Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. Showered with Joy

March 3rd, 2011 @ 3:41 pm by Mrs. Brooch

I had my first shower y’all and it was nothing short of super fabulous!

First I have to take you through the decor because it was simply stunning! There were trays with white doilies, crystal plates, green and pink forks for eating cake, pale orange, peach, and yellow rose garland everywhere, balloons, tulle (I LOVE tulle), and presents galore!

Above all, this chair was my absolute favorite detail. When I walked in and saw it, my jaw literally dropped! All I could think was, “Is that for me?” Talk about feeling like a princess for the day—the tulle bows were just gorgeous! I felt like a star sitting there. ;)

I think I took about 10 pictures just of the chair!

The picture of the Brooches you see on this table in the foyer doesn’t usually sit there. I thought it was so sweet that my stepmom moved it so that it was the first thing people saw when they walked in! So cute!

The dining room in my dad’s house is already beautiful, but add my favorite colors (pink and green), and a few candles, and you’ve got yourself a classy bridal shower.

The cake! OMG you guys, the cake! It was beautiful AND delicious. It had that really, really sweet icing, which I LOVE and raspberry filling with white cake. Yumm. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Did I mention that the cutting utensils were from my dad and step mom’s wedding? How sweet! I love using “something old,” that means a lot. I am smitten with this little umbrella, too! My step mom has been holding out on me. I didn’t know she had it. I’m thinking about asking her to bring it to the wedding my littlest sister, Alison, our flower girl.

I’m really glad that I took my camera, but we got a lot of great pictures of the people there and that was really important to me! I was so overwhelmed by the excitement when I first got there, I handed my mom the camera and let her go to town. This is me, my MOH, and my twin bridesmaids.

The twins again and my good, good friend, BM Ree. She actually lives in New York and took the bus down the night before to make an appearance. I’m so thankful! It wouldn’t have been the same without her!

These lovely ladies were the hosts of the party! They were the ones that decorated, prepared all the food, and made sure we all had a full glass of wine! In this photo is my step mom (far right), her mom, Mrs. K, and my stepmom’s BFF, who actually got married last April! In front of all of them is our cutie pie flower girl, Al!

I had to get a picture with these women because they mean the world to me. I don’t remember what was so funny from this first picture, but what can I say? We were having a good time!

Showered with Joy : wedding arlington bridal shower 131 13Showered with Joy : wedding arlington bridal shower 14 14

My entire bridal party! Woot woot! I can’t help but think we all look beautiful and I cannot imagine how gorgeous we’re going to be on the big day!

To be completely honest, I didn’t want to put this hat on at first! I was worried about my hair and didn’t think it was cute, but guess what? I didn’t want to take it off once I got it on! Isn’t it cute? My stepmom suggested I wear it the day before the wedding when I check into the hotel.

The two cutest “I do” bears and pink tulle! A bow after my own heart!

Showered with Joy : wedding arlington bridal shower 27 27

My bow bouquet! MOH Michelle did a fabulous job! It’s so over-the-top and I love it! I can’t wait to pick it up again for the rehearsal. Eek!

I couldn’t show up to the party empty handed, especially knowing all the thought and hard work the hosts put into everything so I bought a really pretty bottle of bubble bath! I wrapped it with tissue paper and attached a note that read, “Thank you for showering me with joy.”

They loved it!

How was your shower? Were you overwhelmed by all of the wonderful women there to support you?

Awesome looking shower, Miss Brooch! :)

Actually, yes, I was a bit overwhelmed at my shower…esp. since it was a surprise! :) (I hadn’t put on makeup that day and looked kinda bum like..haha. As I was just planning on what I thought was a simple shopping day w. my Mom and FMIL….needless to say, I felt very loved and overjoyed, despite my lack of fashion.) ha!
