The last few weeks before the wedding were filled with little projects, a kazillion errands and phone calls, and basic wedding-related craziness. To make myself feel like I had actually accomplished some things, I started to write this post to show you some results of my handmade efforts. That way I wouldn’t feel like I was running around like a headless chicken for nothing! As luck would have it, I never got to finish the post before the wedding, but I figure, better late than never!
I saw this photo a short while before the wedding, and it inspired me to make vow booklets:

My reality:

They were fairly quick to put together. I printed out our vows and readings for the insides, and just used some cream card and leftover lace and ribbon for the covers. All that was left was to stamp the fronts with a rose and doodle our names on them.
So that our guests could pick and choose during our “Tea and Cupcakes Hour,” I made this Tea Menu out of cream card, scraps of fabric, and some handy-dandy stamps.

(this pic taken when we were doing mock table set-ups)
Our VIPs needed “Reserved” signs! I made these signs for tying to the front row ceremony chairs:

And these card and lace reserved signs, in handfan style, for the three VIP tables at the reception:

(also taken while we were doing mock table set-ups in the garage)
To make each “fan” I cut out two fan-shaped pieces of cream card. On the curved edge of one piece of card, I stuck bits of double-sided tape, and using that I attached a length of lace that I had ruffled using a gathering stitch. Then I stuck the on the other piece of card so that the raw edges of the lace didn’t show, and wrote “Reserved” on it in purple pen. Easy-peasy.
We were pretty much going to let people sit where they like at the reception, but we did plan the seating for our VIPs, and made these place cards using a heart punch and some lace or ribbon to tie on to each VIP’s teacup for the evening:

And as a final touch for our reception I went ahead and made a whole lot of labels to stick in our cupcakes and cheesecakes. They were probably redundant, but I can’t resist a cute label

I used the Martha Stewart doily-edge punch to create these, plus some wooden skewers from the supermarket, and, once again, my very useful purple pen.
In hindsight, I would have done more of these little projects earlier and saved myself the last minute hassle, but at least they are done now!
Did you find yourself doing many DIY projects at the last minute?
