The week before our wedding was…hectic, to say the least. Mr. Cardigan and I left our home in College Station to go to Austin about two weeks before the wedding and so at this point we had already been away from our home for about a week.
We were staying at Mr. Cardy’s parents’ house, along with his brother and his brother’s two kids (his wife joined us a few days before the wedding). So, there were five adults, two kids, and two dogs crammed into a pretty small house. Mr. Cardigan and I were staying in his old room, which is tiny, and by the time we got to the week before our wedding, we were both about to lose our minds from being in such close quarters with so many people. I will be the first to admit that I was not the most pleasant person to be around the week before our wedding—I need lots of personal space, and I get grumpy when I don’t have it.
Even though things were cramped and we were grumpy, we had a lot of stuff to do! Most of my days were spent running around like a crazy person, doing crafts with Sister Cardy (who, by the way, is the best EVER. I’m not kidding when I say our wedding would have sucked without her. She’s amazing) and just generally freaking out.
I spent an insane amount of time finishing up our paper flowers (I think I’ve talked about them once or twice) and with just a few days to spare, I finally got them all done.

Mr. Cardigan helped me throw together our completely last minute escort cards. I don’t even have a link here to tell you where I talked about them, because I literally decided what we were doing about four days before the wedding. Yeah, I procrastinate like that.

And, just a few days before the wedding, Mr. Cardigan and I did what we had been looking forward to for a very, very long time: we got our marriage license!!!

Beyond that, our week was pretty uninteresting. I just drove all over creation getting things done and freaked out in my spare time, while Mr. Cardigan spent some much needed time with his brother (who lives in Hawaii). In the interest of being completely honest, I will say that I broke down and cried more than one time this week because of the sheer stress of trying to get everything done. I had felt like I was incredibly prepared when we left College Station, but there were so many things that absolutely had to be left until the last minute, so it felt like there was a never-ending list of projects to complete and errands to run.
I’m so glad that I have an incredibly patient husband who was 100% supportive as I cried like a crazy person. He was super sweet, and didn’t let on to how annoyed I’m sure he was with me.
I will say that there is one thing about this week that I think I did absolutely 100% right. I got every single thing on my to-do list completed by Wednesday night (we had a Friday wedding). I told myself that if it wasn’t done by then, it wasn’t happening, and I was absolutely determined to do nothing on Thursday but enjoy myself and relax before the wedding. It may have put some added pressure on me in the days leading up to the wedding, but I am so so glad I did it. By the time Thursday rolled around I was cool as a cucumber and completely relaxed.
I really thought that the week before our wedding would never end, but the week finally rolled to a close and suddenly, it was Wednesday night, and Mr. Cardigan and I were laying next to each other freaking out over the fact that everything was starting in just a few short hours.
How was the week before your wedding? Were you as big of a mess as I was?
