Mrs. Ostrich's Picture
Mrs. Ostrich, San Francisco/Hawaii Age and Occupation: 30, Fashion Buyer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, Copywriter Engagement Date: October 4, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii About Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

Let’s Make Some Noise!

March 4th, 2011 @ 2:53 pm by Mrs. Ostrich

Some people clink their glasses….

Others, like the lovely Miss Cinnamon Bun, will have their guests ringing sweet antique bells….

But if you want to see the Ostriches smooch on our wedding day? Well then, you gotta make some noise with these babies!

Yep, the Ostrich wedding crew will find these fringed horns and blowouts sprinkled along their table for them to “toot” all night long…New Year’s Style! And to prompt them a little, we’ll tie a little ribbon around each one with a cute message like this:

{Our Labor of Love via Style Me Pretty}

And for display ideas? We’ll pepper the fringed blowouts {those short, curly noisemakers} along the table and place the fringed horns in glass jars , like Martha, for a playful floral arrangement alternative on our tables:

What will your guests be using to signal a kiss? I’m excited to hear your ideas!

I love the blower idea! We are making “YAY” flags for our guests to wave when we kiss, when a toast is made or just because! I’ve been trying to think of a cute little instructional message to tie to them and you just helped provide it! Thanks!

They’ll be doing the Russian tradition: you he’ll “gorkya” which translated to “bitter” and you have to kiss to kiss away the bitterness out of your marriage! Someone yells it at the end of some speech or such and the rest of the crowd follows. It’s a lot of fun!

I love your idea! We’ll probably end up defaulting to the traditional clink your glasses till they break tradition. ;)

So cute!! We ended up not even having any kiss inducing items, but we didn’t miss it. Love your idea though!

Love the noisemaker idea! And is this the first Ostrich post to not start with a quote??

I’ve had that picture saved “For use in the event of a kiss” since the first day I started wedding planning.

Great minds think alike! ;)

I’m hoping to avoid it altogether! The mr. hates PDA; I think the kiss to seal our vows will be about all he can handle. And we both don’t like kissing-as-performance.

I’m kind of hoping the people at our small wedding just won’t be the type to clink glasses - it helps that we’re not having a sit-down dinner. But if they do, I’m just going to say, “Not gonna happen,” and ignore it.
