About Mrs. Sparkler

$3.99 White Wine

March 5th, 2011 @ 1:40 pm by Mrs. Sparkler

This is the post in which I get to introduce you to our marvelous, amazing, super talented, super adorable, effortlessly cool photographers. I could go on and on with the compliments. I mean, look at them:

As soon as I discovered Avery House, I got that “oh my gosh I have to book them immediately or I just won’t even have a wedding!” feeling. I sent them an (awkwardly frantic) email and crossed my fingers hoping they were available for our date. By some awesome stroke of luck, they hadn’t been booked yet, and I scheduled an engagement shoot immediately.

I was super excited during the weeks leading up to our shoot. This was our first real wedding “thing,” and I wanted to be prepared. I picked out my ensemble, got my hair done, and even went to the gym a few times more than usual (so like…twice?). When the day finally arrived, I took a half-day from work and headed home to get ready. But it wasn’t until that moment that I realized something. I was nervous. REALLY nervous. I’d never had my picture taken professionally. What if it turned out to be awful?

Commence freak-out.

In an effort to calm my ridiculous nerves I told myself, “You may have ONE glass of wine.” One. As in, a single eight-ounce serving.

Wellllll…you know how that goes.

Cheers! (Personal photo)

I ended up drinking almost the whole bottle. And boy…I felt a LOT better. Soon, I was dancing around my apartment to some Kanye, chatting up my dog, and just having a grand old time. Who cares that our photographers rang the doorbell the moment I had my last sip? Who cares that I most likely smelled like a barrel of $3.99 Trader Joe’s white wine? It was all cool, man.

Why am I telling you this story and embarrassing myself? Because this was a horrible, rookie mistake, and a great reminder not to drink too many mimosas before our actual wedding. An important bridal lesson learned.

Thankfully, the pictures turned out amazing. They were 20 times better than I could have even imagined. So thank you, Stevi and Matt. For ignoring the fact that I smelled like a bar, for putting up with our crazy dog, and for making Sparks and me look like rock stars. You guys are truly amazing. If anyone out there is even considering booking Avery House for their wedding, DO IT NOW. Want some proof? (And, FYI, we do NOT look this cool on a daily basis.)

I LOVE your pictures! They are gorgeous. I am nervous for our engagement shoot as well. I have a couple questions about it. Did you do your own makeup? Did you do your own hair? You should totally write a post on how you got ready for your shoot because I know I need some tips on my upcoming e-shoot :)

The sunlight ones - AAAAH. Love them so much. So many sweet pictures. Don’t feel too bad about your white wine drinking; Mr. P had 2 Captain & Gingers before our e-shoot. (A third wouldn’t have hurt.)

The pictures look incredible–despite the drunkenness. I made that “mistake” (is it one? is it?) recently. Ooooohhh that was fun….

@sara: I did my own hair AND makeup! If I could do it again, I think I would splurge and have someone do my makeup. I just wish it would have looked a little bit… more… know what I mean? Anyway, great idea for a post! Good luck with your pics :)
@amariem25: it is ours! Sparks calls her “Rosa” haha.
@Miss Pain au Chocolat: @MissHoneyBun: Oh I’m so glad I’m not the only one haha :)

You both look wonderful and you didn’t fall off the Vespa, I would say it was a successful photo session despite the wine ;) I think most of us have been there under moments of a stress-induced freak out, including deciding to write a philosophy midterm paper after 3 glasses… oh wait, that was probably just me lol
