One night while I was out with a group of my besties, the subject of the wedding came up, which naturally evolved into a discussion about my bachelorette party. At some point “The Thunder Down Under!!!” was proclaimed in a grandiose voice, which prompted everyone to dissolve into fits of giggles. Although a getaway to Vegas was out of the question, a couple of my gal pals pointed out that the fair city of Chicago is within driving distance! More dialogue ensued about the gyrating hips of half-naked men and how best to make me blush. At one point, someone turned to me and said: “Tartlet, what would you want to do in Chicago for your bachelorette?” I paused briefly to consider the question, and then chirped: “I’d really like to go to the aquarium!”
*cue crickets*
Fear not, there won’t be a “Flipper 2: Tartlet’s New Adventures” post in the future (although I did go through a phase where I wanted to be a marine biologist). I’m sharing this conversation with y’all because it brings up a good point:
Know thy bride. My three wonderful bridesmaids took the reins and planned out an amazing night of fun while keeping my comfort level in mind. They even sent me a teaser, inviting me to a girl’s night out to “try desserts, sip cocktails, share funny stories, and celebrate [my] maidenhood.” *blush* Did I mention that I embarrass really easily?

Although I was kept in the loop in general planning terms, there’s a slew of “secret details” that I’m not privy to. Combine that with the foreshadowing of “titillating surprises” and my bashful tendencies, and we have a recipe for some truly entertaining photos come Friday night. Saturday afternoon we’ll recover at my more subdued bridal shower:

My BMs ordered this invite through Wedding Paper Divas, and even selected a design that went with our wedding’s garden theme. I’m giddy with excitement, but also a bit nervous. Why the latter? You see (I’m going to let you in on a secret), I’ve never been to a bridal shower, much less been the guest of honor. Thankfully, the event will be small, but I’m a little anxious about what exactly I–the bride-to-be–am supposed to be doing. I’m usually more of a wallflower kind of girl, so the prospect of being the center of attention is a little intimidating!
This is going to the most epic. weekend. ever! Did you have a themed bridal shower and/or bachelorette party? What sort of mischief did your girls plan for your night out? Careful—you might make me blush!
