Shopping in My Closet

March 7th, 2011 @ 3:23 pm by Ms. Sloth

With a wedding comes the pre-wedding festivities. I’ve got a shower, a bachelorette party, and a rehearsal dinner (which may become a rehearsal lunch, but that’s a post for later), and I’ve got to have something to wear to all three of them.

Luckily for me, I’ve already got a closet full of dresses. I’ve worn them before, but there’s no reason why I can’t wear them again! I definitely don’t care if people have seen me in the same outfit more than once. So, off I go to shop my own closet! But I need your opinions, hive. Which of these dresses do you like best, and which event should I wear them to?

Floral dress from Anthropologie:

I actually haven’t worn this yet, but I bought it for a weekend trip that I’m going on a month before the wedding. It would be perfect for the rehearsal, because our venue is a colonial botanical garden and the dress has vintage botanical sketches. But I fear it may be too fancy for our über-casual rehearsal. Maybe a shower dress instead?

Black and White Dress from Zara:

My mom actually bought this for me at Goodwill - it still had the tags on from Zara! It’s very flattering and pretty, but maybe a bit stuffy for the shower or rehearsal?

Red Sheath Dress by London Times:

I like this dress because it reminds me of Joan Holloway-Harris from Mad Men. I’ve already worn it to a wedding, but I think that, like the Zara dress, it’s too stuffy and not festive enough.

Sequin Dress from Urban Outfitters:

Please ignore the fact that I am wearing a big black bra - I didn’t feel like changing it.

I wore this to a friend’s wedding with black tights and a cardigan, but it would work in the spring with bare legs and shoulders for a bachelorette party. It’s by far the “clubbiest” dress I own, but I’m not sure if my bachelorette party is even sequin-worthy.

Taupe Dress from Anthropologie:

I’ve worn this to work a few times with tights and a cardigan but it’s very springy as well. This is a good choice for the rehearsal, since it’s pretty casual but still festive.

Black Beaded Chiffon Dress from Modcloth:

I like this one because it reminds me of Mrs. Robinson from The Graduate, my favorite movie of all time. This might be the one for my bachelorette party, but maybe I want to wear some color instead?

Grey Dress from H&M:

I love this dress but I’ve literally worn it dozens of times, so it wouldn’t be very special. But it’s perfect for the casual rehearsal.

Anthropologie Lace Cardigan with Black Skirt:

This is another favorite, but is it too “office-y” for a party?

Let me know your thoughts!

Do you like to go shopping in your own closet?

I love the Modcloth for your bachelorette party, especially with the headband you’re wearing! The red dress is totally hot on you, too. That would be my pick for the rehearsal, and the Anthro dress for the shower!

Can I go shopping in your closet? ;)

I truly adore the Black Beaded Chiffon Dress from Modcloth as a bachelorette dress to add color I would say wear colored heels and accessories.

Floral dress from Anthropologie as the shower dress and I don’t know what to wear for the rehearsal but those two are my picks.

I am obsessed with the Anthro floral dress, and I think you should wear it for all occasions. Just kidding. But it seriously is awesome. I love it for a shower!

I vote modcloth for the bachelorette, Anthro floral for the shower, and the red sheath for the rehearsal.
Also, I am jealous of all the dresses in your wardrobe!

i like the h&m and then urban outfitters. if you have the funds you should buy one *special* dress. you can wear it again on your anniv. or a special date night - this is a special time in your life!
that being said, you have a great closet and fab legs!

My opinions are :) :

-ModCloth for bachelorette party
-1st dress for your bridal shower
-taupe dress for rehearsal dinner (it’s ok if you’re slightly more dressed up than others).

They’re all cute, though! Wear whatever you’d like! :)

I love a good closet shopping find. It’s so easy to forget about old purchases. I like the sequin number or the black beaded chiffon for bachelorette. I LOVE the taupe Anthro dress for either shower or rehearsal, and the first floral one for either of those too! :)

What a great selection of dresses you have! I love, love, love the first floral one! I, too, plan on wearing dresses I already own to my shower/rehearsal dinner. They’re just too pretty to be left hanging in the closet! : )
