Gifts for the Girls - Part 1

March 8th, 2011 @ 2:10 pm by Mrs. Hippo

Finding the perfect gifts for my bridal party has been a bit of a challenge. I just don’t think it’s possible to find any gift that will show these women just how amazingly awesome they are. Impossible, actually. But…I found the bridesmaids something that I just know they will love. I am so excited (and actually a little jealous that I didn’t get one for myself)!

Before we get into details, let me remind you a little bit about the bridal party. On my side is MOH/Sister Hippo plus three bridesmaids. Then, I have another five ladies that make up the house party. While I’ll be posting about gifts for the entire group in another post, I have one extra special gift for the four ladies that will be standing up with me during the ceremony.

My parents have a family friend that has the cutest handbag shop in Gainesville, Texas called Cahoots Handbags. They make handbags in all kinds of unique fabrics and textures, adorned with pretty linings and decorative buttons. While the shop is located in a small town, they have literally blown up and have been featured in national magazines like Jane and Lucky, and bridal magazines like Brides of North Texas and D Magazine Weddings. I just love their bags, especially their clutches, and the ladies of Cahoots were gracious enough to make their oversized clutch for my bridesmaids. What a treat!

What’s awesome about Cahoots is that they not only have bags in stock, but they also do custom orders…so you can send them fabric and they will make a custom bag. I wanted the bags to match our wedding colors (navy blue and yellow), so Mama Hippo went on a hunt for some unique fabric. She found an awesome yellow and white print, and we sent it to the Cahoots team, telling them to do whatever they wanted for the lining and button. I absolutely ADORE the final product. Take a look:

The fully lined inside, with inside pocket. Love it!

The navy lining just might be a perfect match with the bridesmaids’ dresses, and I just love the glass button that they used. Oh, and get this, the oversized clutch my bridesmaids are getting is the same style bag Cahoots just recently sent to the Oscars for the gift baskets for the Red Carpet Style Lounge. So, stars like Natalie Portman and Amy Adams, and other Oscar nominees now have similar Cahoots bags (different fabric of course) as my girls! How cool is that?! I’m so lucky to have such an awesome family connection…but hive, I’m not just keeping it to myself!

What gift did you give your bridesmaid that you absolutely loved?

That clutch is beautiful! Oh man, I am dealing with this right now. I have a gift for my 2 girls picked out but my MOH has been my BFF forever and is really doing a lot for me. Way above and beyond! I am trying to find something extra special to give her (privately of course) but can not think of a thing. She isn’t into jewelry so I was thinking a nice purse but that is such a personal thing to pick out for someone.

LOVE this! It reminds me of the store Lill, where you pick your fabric and style and they make you a bag- we did that for a friend’s bachelorette party and it was so fun!

My wedding is wine/grape themed, so I bought each girl a canvas wine bag with a different wine region name and map printed on it. Inside, I’m putting a mini bottle of champagne, their wedding jewelry, and a grape-shaped soap.

I hope Mama Hippo sent enough fabric for you to have a surprise one coming! I have been to several home shows lately with their purses and have been crushing over them. I didn’t know you knew them!
