Enlisting Help

March 10th, 2011 @ 8:13 am by Mrs. Crepe

Bridesmaid G. was my college roommate in school and she’s quite the crafty one herself. She’s a toy designer by day, and by night she’s my personal little sweatshop worker. Just kidding! She loves using her gorgeous antique sewing machine, and since I’ve got my hands full of little DIY projects in the meantime, she was totally on board to help with sewn decorations.

Have you guys seen the use of bunting (aka pennant banners) in wedding decor?

Whether it’s at the altar, at the dessert table or on a menu, patterned banners like this are simply too sweet to pass up. I’m trying to stay away from things that are done quite so often but I have a bit of weakness for these. I can’t help it. They’ve got that nostalgic pull.

Since she knew I’d want photos for blogging purposes, Bridesmaid G. was kind enough to snap a few for us.

First, she made a pattern out of a piece of regular copy paper and cut the triangles out.

Then she put the outside patterned part on the inside and sewed each side, leaving the top unfinished because I’m going to attach them to a ribbon when she’s done.

The last thing she did was iron them flat. How cute is that ironing board?

She tells me she’s made 158! The woman is a rock star. Anyone else enlisting the help of some crafty friends? Chime in! (I may be feeling a tad guilty and looking for some company…)

I just learned to ask for help in the past month or so. Seriously, you should not feel guilty. At some point, we all end up needing help! You’re just smart for wising up sooner rather than later (like me). ;)

Unfortunately I am probably the most “crafty” one out of all of my friends. My MOH actually knows how to sew and recently dove into the Cricut and scrapbooking world, but she also just had a baby and lives on the other side of the country. I know she wishes that she could help but right now it is too hard, but she is definitely going to be by my side pumping out all the last minute projects when she makes it into town! You definitely should not feel bad, when I am a bridesmaid I always make sure to tell the brides that is what I am here for. Plus your friend did a great job!

I did not want to over do what others had done either, but I too could not resist BUNTING!!!!
I heart it!!!!
My mother made me one that we will hang in back of our ceremony spot (sorta as focal point) that has our names on it!!!!!!
Love the bride/groom chairs idea - Totally stealling that!!!!
