Hi hive!

Many of you have come to know and love Laylabelle, one of our great hive members. Many of you noticed she’s been a little absent from the boards…one month after her 30th birthday, Layla was diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer (1A Adenocarcinoma). We’d all love it if you gave this blog a visit to say hello and find out a little more about what she’s going through and send her some hive love.

We’re all thinking of you here at Weddingbee, Layla!!!

Thanks for posting this! We’re also going to be doing an online bake sale for Operation Layla, and if anyone is interested in joining up, feel free to contact me. I know Layla was well-loved on here, and we want everyone who loves her to be able to be involved in whatever way they can!

I’ve been gone from WB for a long while myself but I met Layla and a number of other friends on here. MAJOR thanks to you guys for bringing more awareness to this.

And an FYI - it has the possibility of being 2 causes in 1: Any amount of money raised over the amount Layla needs for surgery will be donated to tsunami/earthquake aid.

I don’t have much but I had to donate something! Hope she is feeling better soon:(. The insurance companies really are heartless and should reconsider situtations just like this!

We *have* to find *some* solution to the health care issue!!! I was out of work for several years due to health issues and I thank God everyday for Cobra which allowed me to have health insurance, long term disability insurance which allowed me to pay for the health insurance and my Mom who made sure I didn’t die from neglect and starvation.
I made my donation and wish I could do more–good luck and you have a hive of bees buzzing good thoughts your way.

where is the bake sale going to be held? I own an online cupcake bakery and would be willing to donate cupcakes/gift cards to help out but I only deliver in the bay area.

So sorry to hear this young woman is going through such a financial and bureaucratic nightmare on top of her health challenges. The fact that this is actually how health care works in your country blows my mind! Up here in scary socialist Canada if you need healthcare, you get it. If a doctor says you need a procedure, it happens. Period. Employment status and private, profit-driven companies and this “pre-existing condition” insanity have nothing to do with it. I think it’s fantastic the community is rallying around donating to this girl, but let’s remember another (additional) way to support Layla and other people in her situation is to pay attention to and speak out on the politics around health care…
