I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. About Mrs. Cotton Candy

I’m with the Band

March 12th, 2011 @ 1:45 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

I knew from about day one of our engagement that I would get a nontraditional wedding band. I wanted something bold and colorful that could be worn without my engagement ring. Something kind of like this:

With the extra money we saved on Mr. Cotton Candy’s wedding band, we had a pretty healthy sum in our budget to be able to afford almost any band of my choosing. That all changed, though, the day the mister shared with me his stress over our overgrown budget. In the past couple of months we’ve found ourselves going over budget on big-ticket items like photography and rentals and, as much as it sucked, my wedding band was one place we both saw we could save some money to help cover our overages. It’s not the most ideal situation, but since I wasn’t 100% attached to any one ring and considering Mr. Cotton Candy’s own inexpensive ring, I figured it was only fair to limit my own budget.

Since I knew our new ring budget wouldn’t stretch far enough to include gemstones or expensive metals, I focused my search on sterling silver bands similar to the one we purchased for the mister several months back. Me being me, though, I still wanted it to have something special to set it apart from other silver bands, and I found it in Tiffany’s sterling silver “I Love You” ring.

The ring is a perfect complement to Mr. Cotton Candy’s sterling silver band, and its petite size means it fits nicely against my engagement ring. I’m really happy with our choice in wedding bands, and I’m even happier with their small impact on our budget.

Now the only thing left to do is figure out what in the hell we’re going to have engraved inside them. I’m thinking something classic like our wedding date. Or should we go for something quirky?

Do you need the inside engraved, if the outside already has ‘I Love You’ on it?
We’re not doing engraving in ours at all! For one, it voids all the lifetime of service and replacement that the Mr’s ring comes with, and it wasn’t something I’d ever set my heart on.

Way to save money!!

We just started discussing engravings last night. Mr. P wants to be able to identify his ring (on the off-chance he’s allowed to remove it - kidding). Love the Tiffany bubble ring in your inspiration set.

That’s a cute band! It stinks being over in some areas and having to cut back elsewhere. We had to do a little of that too with some elements of our wedding.
