Maid to Order

March 14th, 2011 @ 4:15 pm by Mrs. Bacon

I love buying things for people, so when it came time to come up with gifts for the bridal party, I was thrilled! I knew from the start that I wanted their gifts to be something they could use during the wedding, but even then, there are so many options!

Initially, we were trying to find space in the budget to buy their dresses since all four ladies were flying in and would have lots of expenses. There just wasn’t enough moolah to cover all the expenses, so it was on to more traditional gifts like accessories.

I’m going to be wearing TOMS under my white dress and I’m so excited that the BMs are on board to do the same. Now we’re just down to picking the style: wedge vs flat, plain vs glitter. Since TOMS are unconventional shoes, the Baconator and I agreed early on that we should cover the cost. If we go with the flat versions, the ladies will probably wear black heels that they already own for the ceremony and use the TOMS as relief shoes. We made that decision and felt pretty good about the gifts, until I got a notice for an online group discount that I just couldn’t pass up.

Every great outfit has a fab pair of shoes and a cute bag, so when I saw the deal for 50% off with no maximum on how many I could purchase, I knew it was meant to bee (hehehe)! I’ve often seen women on the bus or in my office with these cute bags that have mixes of different patterns, and once I figured out the brand I checked out their website. Remember my love of online test driving? Well, I made all kinds of sample bags online because that’s what I do. Once I finally bit the bullet to try it out in store, it was even more fun than online!

Oh! I smell something BLUE!

I decided on getting the bigger clutch for my MOH since she’s the only gal likely to take it out on the town more than a couple of times, then I got the smaller clutch with the chain strap for the other ladies. I wanted to make sure that the purses didn’t feel like they came off the factory line, so each one has the same floral pattern on the outside, but a different fabric on the inside in the gal’s favorite color. The MOH bag is mainly black, but maintains the same floral pattern as accents to tie all the pieces together.

Having a hard time visualizing it? How about some pictures of the whole look together?

Since the necklines are different for the ladies, I’m going to have them wear whatever jewelry they feel like looks best. This way, even though I’m making them wedding clones, they do get to have a bit of their own personalities shine through.

What are you gifting your ladies?

Those are wonderful gifts! Your girls will love them. I might have the purse making party as part of my shower or bachelorette party. In case I’m not able to, I’d definitely like to gift these. Did you happen to find the online deal for 50% off recently? I’d love to do that!

The fact that you are using TOMS makes my heart a pitter patter. I love TOMS. I will be wearing TOMS too and probably the flower girl.

@LuvTacori: It was about 6 months ago, so I’m sure that Groupon is due to have another deal soon. Just sign up for all those notices and wait. They are also doing a bridal promo at the Lill Studio site right now where you can save 20% http://www.1154lill.com/shop.axd/Bridal-Handbags-Bridesmaid-Gifts.

@pec1216: Thanks so much for the heads up on the black glitters. I’ll definitely check them out in person first since my first reaction was the same as yours - “Oh, so sleek! Perfect for work and play!”

i’m not sure if you’re still going between TOMS wedge or shoe; but i have both and the wedge is kind of uncomfortable. i really have never worn them because after an hour they start throbbing…maybe it’s just my foot; but just something to think about…happy buying!

1) Love TOMS. I don’t yet own a pair, but my SO does.

2) Love the purses for BMs gifts. I intend to do the same (someday) and use the purses instead of bouquets down the aisle.

I’m at a loss for what to gift my two gals. TOMS seems like a very popular choice on the hive lately!

Can somebody please explain to me why those shoes are so popular? Are they super comfy or something?

super cute! I had future sister-in-law make bracelets for each of the girls (she’s so talented) that had an initial charm on it as my traditional gift. Then we are getting all the members of the bridal party personalized koozies from Etsy (FH and I take koozies with us whenever we go out so it’s become quite the joke). And then I am also gifting the girls a “good” manicure set (like not from CVS lol) since they all like to get their nails done!

A little late I know….but I just recently found this!

As a BM in one friend’s wedding we all got a beautiful pashmina and some hand crafted earrings!
