Getting Ready!

March 14th, 2011 @ 12:29 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

One of the very first decisions that I made for the wedding was where I wanted to stay the night before we got married.

Mr. Jaguar was always planning on staying at our apartment and getting ready with his boys here—but his parents had other ideas, and he’s now going to spend the night before and the morning of the wedding there.

As for me, well, I’m not sure what it was that made my mind up so early, especially since I did this almost twelve months ago now, before I had any idea of where we were going to be living or what our apartment would be like. I had an impulse, I followed through, and I went with it. Looking back, it was probably a good decision—as much as I’d love to be at home and getting ready with my little Oscar-cat around me, my white gown would end up completely covered in tabby and white cat fluff!

So, in 90 days time, I’ll be getting ready at around this time, in a very cute little hotel room, surrounded by my mum and three best girls. We’re not staying in a fancy, harbour-side hotel; as nice as that would be, it’s not really in the budget, and we wanted something closer to our church and venues to keep car costs down. After a lot of research, I found a hotel that was in the middle of being completely revamped and looked perfect!

I chose this room in particular, because it was a bigger size than most others. I figured we’d fit all of the bridal party in there better. The big windows are a bonus, they’ll let in lots of natural light for photographs of us getting ready, and they really make the room seem bigger than it is. Throw in the simple and chic decor, and it looks perfect!

Since Mr. Jaguar and I aren’t leaving for our honeymoon until the Monday after our wedding, we decided we’d go ahead and book this room for two nights—one for the pre-wedding night (just me) and then one for our wedding night. It makes sense because it’s only about 15 minutes from our reception venue, all of my stuff will be left there from the night before. And, it’s close to home, too.

Where did you get ready on your wedding day?

I’ll be going with the same idea - two nights, one for pre-wedding just me, the next morning for the girls to gather up and get ready, then back to the room with the new hubby the night after.

I just haven’t figured out which hotel yet….

I was really glad we got ready in a suite at the hotel because we had a LOT of people in that room and there was no way we could have all gotten ready in a normal sized room.

We lucked out and our venue has suites upstairs and 2 of those are included in the wedding package for us to get ready.

I did the same - I actually had 3/4 bridesmaids stay with me on the night before the wedding. It was my own personal slumber party with my best friends, so it worked out pretty great. It also made things so much easier to be staying in the same room the wedding night.

It is cute, right? :) I love the neutral tones with the red splashed in there.

It’s not a suite, but they do tell me it’s bigger than a regular room. Phew!

You guys are making me feel like I made the right choice, so thanks!

That’s a great idea, and the room looks awesome!

But… you know what you just inspired me to think about? Photos of me in my wedding gown with my cats! I could totally take them out onto the back deck, have mountains in the background… wedding photos with my cats. :) I don’t want them involved in any other way, but that might be really nice.

You definitely made the right choice, I love how bright and crisp the room looks, it’ll look great as a backdrop! Plus it definitely looks big enough…

This was one of the best ideas ever! Our venue was in the hotel so they upgraded our room to a large suite. Me and the girls stayed in the room the night before, got ready the morning of, and my husband and I stayed there the night of our wedding. It was awesome and very convenient.

What a nice suite. The girls are getting ready at the venue. There are separate suites for both bride and groom to get ready. Our hair and make-up ladies are coming to one location so that makes it nice and easy.
