Mrs. Jaguar's Picture
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
About Mrs. Jaguar

The Littlest Things

March 15th, 2011 @ 2:23 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

Visiting our venue recently for our meal tasting was great, as it gave me another little sneak peek at our room and the details that we’ll be seeing for ourselves soon enough. In case you missed it, this is the beautiful building from the outside.

The room has changed slightly since we originally booked it: the dance floor that was once off to one side has been shifted into the centre of the room. Thankfully, the rest of the details are all still the same—the antique mirrors, the cozy fireplaces, the floor to ceiling windows…

Our space was set up for another wedding, so the tables were arranged with the couple’s chosen favours and menus, but even still, you can see the general idea of how the room will be set out. The gorgeous draped ceiling with fairy lights is the main feature of the room, and looks absolutely stunning.

Then there are our centrepiece options, which weren’t on display in the photo above. We’ve opted to have fairly low-lying vases, so we don’t obstruct the views across the table. (And no, I don’t think we’ll have floating balls in them.) They will be on the reflective plates with tea light candles, so they make a nice glow on the tables. Flowers aren’t included in our package, so we’re taking care of those ourselves.

The silverware and china will be the same as what we used at our menu tasting, so nice and simple. We won’t be having table platters, so it’ll look less ‘busy’ than it did on the night.

And one of my favourite included details are the chairs that the venue uses as standard in all its function rooms. We’re opting to have the simple ivory organza sash, as you can see below. I think they’ll be nice and simple, and will match the roof draping as well as the table linens.

What are some of your venue’s gorgeous little details?

we are getting married in Raleigh, right down the street from NCSU (mr c is an alum) and it’s red brick campus. 2 of the walls in our venue are red brick, as well as the patio.
what really made me fall in love was the vaulted tin ceilings and the black chandeliers. our venue used to be a bakery back in the ww1 and ww2 days and the ceiling is left over from that era.
we are also right across from the college my mother attended!
and in case we needed any more cute photo-ops, there’s a railroad track behind the building!

@Chocolatte: That’s gorgeous! I visited Raleigh in 2008 and thought the whole town was gorgeous. Very Southern, very beautiful. Your day is going to be stunning!

@Mrs. Meerkat & @Mrs. Earrings: Thanks, ladies! :)

Yeah, I’m completely jealous of your chairs. I never thought I’d care at all about something as random as chairs, but I am just drooling over chiavaris - so classy! Your venue really does look beautiful. Looking forward to seeing how it looks for your reception!

The venue is really elegant and classy!! The details you’ve chosen definitely complement it and will turn out great!
My favorite detail of my reception venue is that it’s a renovated historical building, so there are many beautifully preserved details.

@Miss Elephant: Thanks! I honestly didn’t realise those chairs were quite so in demand until I saw that many places charge extra for them. We ARE lucky!

@Miss Tartlet: Thanks! I think that the simple sash is nice and not too overpowering. The chairs don’t really need much, after all!

@Miss Ostrich: Included yes, but I’m sure I’m paying for them somewhere in the crazy per-head cost! ;)

@Miss Pain au Chocolat: Isn’t it beautiful? I really hope it turns out as nice for our wedding.

@Miss Cotton Candy: Thanks, C.Can! I love it, can’t wait!

@SadieBee: Thanks Sadie, that’s really nice of you. I’m VERY thankful for the chairs, trust me. No seat covers necessary - and you’d be surprised how many people cover them up. *gasp*

@Miss Carousel: That sounds gorgeous! I can’t wait to see some pictures of your venue. :)
