I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
About Mrs. Starfish

When I had walked down the aisle with Starfish Dad during our rehearsal dinner, I pretty much ran down the aisle. I was so nervous. He warned me in the waiting area on the day of the wedding that “this is not a race.” He tried to help me relax as I waited. We talked; he and Sister Starfish were teasing me and were able to get me to smile, but I was still a big ball of nerves.

Then something unexpected happen. As I walked down, I turned the corner to the main aisle and saw Mr. Starfish waiting for me at the end. My nerves disappeared. Not only my nerves, but the entire room. This was the moment Mr. Starfish and I had our “first look.”

I saw his smile and we locked eyes. Mr. Starfish’s smile was contagious. As I saw his grin, my stress disappeared and a smile came across my face.

Newport Nuptials: The First Look : wedding newport pictures pro pics recap Augusti06

It felt like it was just the two of us. It’s hard to explain, but it was such an incredible feeling. We were surrounded by all of our friends and family, yet it was one of the most intimate moments of my life.

Newport Nuptials: The First Look : wedding newport pictures pro pics recap Augusti07 I can’t remember if my walk was too fast, too slow, or just right. All I remember is looking at Mr. Starfish and feeling pure bliss.

Newport Nuptials: The First Look : wedding newport pictures pro pics recap Augusti08 I had never been so excited to see Mr. Starfish in my entire life.

Newport Nuptials: The First Look : wedding newport pictures pro pics recap Augusti09 Judging by his smile, I think he felt the same. It was like we were in our own little bubble. It wasn’t until Starfish Dad hugged me that I came back to reality. As we hugged, I realized, “wow, this is it!” I finally noticed everyone we love in the room and it became incredibly real.

Newport Nuptials: The First Look : wedding newport pictures pro pics recap Augusti010 Starfish dad then gave Mr. Starfish a loving hug, as an official welcome to the family.

After we hugged Starfish Dad, it was time to start the ceremony.

The entire day people commented on the way Mr. Starfish was looking at me as I walked down the aisle. I was told by many of our friends and family members how lucky I am (I agree). It was funny to me thoughM because the moment felt so intimate at the time. To hear guests comment on it made me think, “wow they got to see that, too!” I love that we shared our favorite moment with our friends and family.

Will you do a first look or will you wait to see each other as you walk down the aisle?

Aw! This made me tear up. And also cemented my decision to NOT take pre-ceremony pics together. Thanks!

we are kind of having a first look. since we are staying seperate the night before we agreed to have breakfast that morning together and no one else before the day got rolling. that way i could see him and we could talk and giggle together and then part ways till i walk down the aisle. i made him promise to answer his phone if i called though lol

Man, you’re killing me Starfish! That is so cute! I’m about 99% sure I want to do a first look before the ceremony, but seeing this makes me rethink it just a little bit.

i want our first look to be private, mainly because i am a *ugly* crier. we’re talking red face, puffy eyes, snotty nose - yuck!
it looks like i am going to loose that battle though b/c everyone else doesn’t like this, including mr. chocolatte :(

We’re going to do a first look earlier in the day, just for ease of schedule.

Love this post, it is so heartfelt and real! We want to have our first look before the ceremony, but this post really made me see the benefits of waiting! It does become a chance for everyone to see the love and affection between two people in it’s highest moment! Btw, great pics!

That is exactly what I felt like when I saw Mr. M. at the end of the aisle. And that photos of Mr. S. and your dad is amazing.

This is so sweet, I actually have tears in my eyes! I’ve gone back and forth about doing a first look before the ceremony, but the way you described first seeing your future husband waiting at the end of the aisle made me want to wait and save this special moment for our ceremony. Thanks for the lovely prose and pictures!

See, this is EXACTLY why I don’t want to do a first look!! I love the whole experience of the bride and groom finally seeing each other at the aisle, and everyone else getting to experience all the love!
