Mrs. Tartlet's Picture
Mrs. Tartlet, Rochester, MI Age and Occupation: Age & Occupation: 27, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Medical Student Engagement Date: May 2, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: The Royal Park Hotel About Me: I'm an exuberant gal from the Midwest with a penchant for Neuroscience and anything sparkly. I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself, and I'm a believer that given the right pair of shoes, a girl can conquer the world. While an interest in the sciences threw Mr. Tartlet and me together (again, and again, until it finally stuck), we share a love for many things---food, video games, car dancing, food, bad puns, travel, did I mention food?---that ultimately led us to where we are now, less than five months from becoming Mr. and Mrs. We're planning a laid-back, romantic, garden-inspired affair with organic and quirky touches that reflect our love for the unexpected!
About Mrs. Tartlet

A Hairstylin’ We Will Go

March 16th, 2011 @ 10:38 am by Mrs. Tartlet

After the haircut mishap of 2008 and growing my hair out for what seems like forever, I’m thrilled to once again have long locks and the versatility that comes with them! However, perhaps some of you have also found that too many choices can be a paralyzing problem. I have a hair trial next week with the ladies at Posh Studio, and I’m nowhere near zeroing in on a style that complements my overall “look.” And, as I was writing this post I realized that you’ve seen my dress, and you’ve seen the shoes, but I have yet to share my veil with you!

This is the photo that makes me fall in love with my dress all over again. I don’t get the same warm, content feeling without the veil, whose breathtaking lace and ribbon-edged detailing I couldn’t pass up:

Pardon the rogue bra strap–this photo was taken pre-alterations!

Now that you’ve seen what I have to work with, it’s time to consider the hairstyle options. I normally wear my hair up, so naturally that’s what I’m more comfortable with.

Choice #1: The formal ponytail. Pulled off so well by the lovely Mila Kunis:

I’m not sold on how the tail will pair with my long veil, but if I could get my hair to behave like this every day, I’d be one happy camper.

Choice #2: The loose updo. This style is currently my favorite. I’m not a fan of wisps of hair falling around my face, but I do like the tousled look of the hair pinned up in the back.

Choice #3: The structured updo. Classy and elegant when done right, but perhaps a little too formal for our wedding?

Choice #4: The half-up half-down. This look has such a carefree, unfussy feeling to it, while still keeping my hair out of my face. I have the length, and part of me definitely wants to let my hair down!

Which of these styles do you think works best?

Half up/half down. You get the best of both worlds and you get to show off your long locks. You’ll look great no matter which hairstyle you choose.

Loose updo!

Though whatever you were doing to your hair in the dress photo looks great, too!

I def think half up half down would look awesome with that dress. You will look gorgeous either way but that’s just my .02

I like the loose updo. Looks beautiful and easy to maintain throughout the wedding day. I also like the half up/half down but if your hair doesn’t hold curl well then your hair will be flat by the end of the night.

I love the loose updo, but can definitely see why you’d want the half-up, half-down to show off your length. Could you do both? Ask your stylist to pin your hair loosely up for the ceremony and then shake it down for the reception?

Either the half-up/half down or the loose updo, you will look fabulous in whatever hairstyle you pick.

I know this is irrelevant, but I was all smiles when I saw Yoon Eun-Hye (#2)!! She is one of my fave Korean actresses, loved her especially in “Coffee Prince”. :-)

Wear it loose (or at least part-up, to hold the veil in place and keep the hair out of your face)! You said you normally wear your hair up–dazzle everyone with the locks! It looked FANTASTIC in the hair “trial” thing you posted.

Love your veil! I’m voting for the loose updo…I think I’m doing the same!

Love lose updo’s! And your face shape would suit it so well.

I like the half up/half down choice. I am a little impartial though because this is about the only style that I can seem to pick whenever I look at styles for myself!
I do like the loose updo though. It all kind of depends on your tyoe of hair though. My hair is so thick that any kind of updo requires TONS (and I mean TONS) of hairspray and pinning. Then, it takes the entire next day for me to locate all of the bobby pins that have been shoved into my scalp.
I can’t wait to see which one you pick though!!!

Half up half down or the formal ponytail :)

Your dress and veil are gorgeous!

I love the half up, half down and also the loose up-do. I think the pony tail is cute but maybe to casual for your pretty lace dress. I am going with a loose updo even though I love my hair down and curled. I am just afraid I will get too hot and then sweaty and then my hair will fall flat.
