The Perfect Wedding Month

March 16th, 2011 @ 1:23 pm by Miss Carousel

Mr. Caro* and I decided upfront that we wanted our wedding to be in September. Since the proposal came in May 2010, it was not feasible to plan it for 2010—so September 2011 it was!

September was the perfect choice for us because:

1. Celebrations all year long!

I, as most girls, love to plan and celebrate special occasions. A wedding anniversary is one of the best occasions to celebrate, so having it in the month of September fits perfectly with our other big dates. This way we will be able to plan something special during each season!

  • WINTER (February): Mr. Caro’s birthday
  • SPRING (May): My birthday
  • SUMMER (September): Our anniversary
  • AUTUMN (December): Christmas

2. Long engagement (15 months) and a pre-anniversary

I am the type of person who savors the planning as well as the execution, so for me a long engagement works best. Plus I loved having a pre-anniversary!

What made you decide on your wedding date?

*Mr. Caro: As an abbreviation of Mr. Carousel, I think Mr. Caro fits perfectly, as in Italian “caro” means “dear.” :-)

A pre-anniversary celebration. I’ve never thought about that before, but it sounds wonderful!

Wow your special dates are the opposite of ours. We have our anniversary in August, my birthday, DHs birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years - its all so close together which makes it pricey but a fun few months out of the year for us!

i have always wanted a spring wedding, but mr. c would have died of heatstroke if it was any warmer than september. from there 9.10.11 just seemed perfect!

I was thinking the same as you when we planned our wedding for September. Both of our birthdays are in the spring so we now will have something to celebrate in the fall. and I love the idea of a pre-anniversary.

I love September…perfect fall weather and beautiful trees and vineyards starting to change colors! We got engaged in July 2010 and are getting married 9/10/11, four days before my birthday.

We chose September because I wanted warm weather and FI didn’t want to sweat the entire time during our ceremony.

Yay, we are engagement month and wedding month twins! September was always my favorite month. I’m a total back-to-school nerd.

@Mrs. Spaniel: Yeah… That was a bit of a stretch, should have mentioned that I “made” Autumn last three extra days to make it fit in my celebration plan… But I’m sure you got the idea :-)

I love weddings in September, too :)

We picked the end of April because we wanted celebrations all year long too ;) AND it was the perfect excuse for our family and friends to take a “spring break” and travel to hawaii!

I love all seasons for weddings! However, I do love the weather in September, and it also spells apple picking in Michigan! Donuts + Cider = Win.

We chose our date because Mister liked the symmetry of “10/10/10″ and we both love October.

@Miss Tartlet: Cider/donuts/apples makes for a happy autumn weekend! I grew up in NW Ohio and now live in Michigan so cider mills are an integral part of my fall activities calendar :)
