Mrs. French Toast, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Marketing & PR Fiance's Age and Occupation: IT geek by day, self-proclaimed handyman by night Engagement Date: October 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Palm Event Center About Me: I’m a city girl at heart who moved to the suburbs a year ago. Now I’m adjusting to life with a front lawn, nosy neighbors, cooking attempts, and making sure the garbage pail is pulled out on time every week! When I’m not traveling, Mr. FT and I enjoy marathon sessions of Law & Order: SVU, snowboarding, photography, spoiling our 3-year old yorkie-poodle Mokka and disagreeing over what music to listen to in the car. We’re planning a small winery wedding while incorporating some cultural elements into the day as a nod to our Chinese backgrounds.

Can you tell a Words With Friends addict is in the house?? Ever since my colleague challenged me to a game early last year, I was hooked.

Growing up, I was never a fan of Scrabble. But Words With Friends makes it so convenient and fun to challenge my friends and play with people from all over the world. It’s my nightly ritual to make a last move on WWF before I hit the sack.

I’ve been thinking of ways to incorporate WWF/Scrabble related themes to the wedding day.

Mr. French Toast doesn’t even touch the game so I don’t want to it be the center of attention, but I wanted to include small touches here and there.

A cake?

With a week out’ til the wedding, it’s obviously too late for me to do anything wild with the idea, so I thought it’d be fun to make big scrabble tiles and have a bunch of letters for guests to form words with for the photobooth.

I used this tutorial to create individual letters, printed them onto card stock, and adhered it to a foam board. Initially I was ambitious and thought I can make the entire alphabet, but then I realized I would have to print double or triple of certain letters and vowels because my guests will be forming words. In the end, I just stuck with the word we all love so much : L-O-V-E!

Unfortunately I am without a camera at the moment so I don’t have any photos to share with the hive of the letters, but I’ll be sure to update when they’re put into use at the photobooth!

How do you plan on incorporating personal touches into your wedding day without being overbearing?

I’ve been playing WWF even before I was married! Well like 2 years ago I think when it first came out. From Scrabble to WWF coz I get to play with others.
My sister made me a WWF cake for my birthday and I love it! My husband doesn’t like it, not his thing, but he supports me and thinks I’m crazy. hahah

We are big scrabble players so in our guestbook in the front we had a page that had our names in scrabble letters and LOVE spelled out. I basically just put the scrabble pieces on my scanner and then used that image. I wish I had a picture for you!

WWF rocks! And FI is even more addicted to it than I am. I’ll have to show him these ideas, maybe we can add some scrabbley touches to our day as well.

Totally love this idea. My husband and the good majority of my in-laws are totally into Scrabble. We thought about making table numbers out of scrabble letters, but our theme didn’t really allow for it. Looking forward to seeing your photo booth props!

We incorporated Scrabble into our wedding. We used actual game tiles for the table assignment cards. We then made bigger corresponding Scrabble tiles for the tables. As the night wore on, a lot of those table letters migrated to our photobooth too!

Mr. P is seriously addicted to WWF. It’s gotten to the point where I won’t play him because as soon as I play a word, he sends one right back. I can’t keep up with that pace! Thankfully he and my mom are equally addicted so they can leave me out of it. (Mr. P feels bad, only for a second, when he plays a 90+ word against her.)

Love that you’re incorporating it into the wedding!

Can’t wait to see how it turns out! We met in college, so a lot of decor/inspiration came from there. My favorite aspect though was that we toasted with our college champagne flutes!!
