Mrs. Ostrich's Picture
Mrs. Ostrich, San Francisco/Hawaii Age and Occupation: 30, Fashion Buyer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, Copywriter Engagement Date: October 4, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii About Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

Walk This Way

March 17th, 2011 @ 12:57 pm by Mrs. Ostrich

“You have brains in your head.

You have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” – Dr. Seuss

{our labor of love}

A hundred THANK YOUS for all of your votes on yesterday’s bridal bling post. :) The Westerly earrings look like the clear winner….but the bracelet choice is still a tie! I’m gonna have to mull that one over a little more, but I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my final choice!

So now that the jewelry is {almost} figured out, what’s next on the Ostrich Wedding Checklist?

Our wedding sign. Because just when I decided we didn’t need one, I saw Mrs. Stripes’ totally awesome sign and had to have one of my own.

{Mrs. Stripes AWESOME DIY sign}

And then I continued to fall hopelessly in love with more wedding sign goodness…

And while I would love to follow the Stripes’ path and DIY our own sign, constructing a big wood thing and shipping it off to paradise wasn’t practical. So, we did the next best thing…ETSY. :)

After browsing through the search results of “wedding sign,” I found it:

{by yourethatgirldesigns}

This cute sign, created by yourethatgirldesigns, is terrific because you can customize the color of the sign! And, she has oh so lovely handwriting. :)

So for our little beach wedding, we’ve opted to paint our sign in the glorious “Coral Gables” color by Benjamin Moore:

And for our two signs? After lots of thought, we decided to keep it short and sweet:

Top sign (with the cute white heart, all lowercase letters): sylvia ♥ rob

Bottom sign (with a white arrow pointing to the left, all lowercase letters}: beach

It’s super cute and will be shipped directly to our wedding coordinator’s house in Hawaii. *WHEW* One less thing to clutter up our already overflowing wedding stuff corner!

What about you, bees? Will you have a sweet wedding sign for your wedding? If so, what will it say?

love it! It would be pointless for us to have a sign like this, since everything is in the same place, but boy did I want one so bad

OMG, reading the Bee is becoming a dangerous hobby! Ostrich, I need to stop drooling over these pictures before “wedding sign” gets added to my list of things to purchase!

I am in th same boat as ktisthatbees. I really, really want a sign, but there’s no point since everything is in the same place.
The sign you picked is super cute though.

I love hand made signs…but all our wedding goodness is in the same location. Seems silly. But I did DIY a bride and groom sign for our chairs and thank you sign for our photo cards.

I so wanted wedding signage after seeing Stripes’ signs, too! Alas, all of our festivities are in one room so the sign would be rather redundant. I’ll live vicariously through all of you. :)

Your sign is going to look so great! Like CCandy, I want a sign, but I can’t think of anywhere to put it where it wouldn’t look out of place. Sigh.

I love those signs! I saw one that had a bunch of different destinations on it and I think that is what we are going to do for our reception!

awww, yay! The third pic with all the signs is from our wedding! We called it the “bus stop” because that’s where we had the school buses drop everyone off. If you are thinking of having one, do it! It’s a great feature and makes for some really fun pics! Happy planning all you lucky brides-to-be:)

I feel the same way about signs, as soon as I saw them I wanted to make one BAD! ETSY is amazing for them! Probably the result of staring at wedding porn constantly, but I’ve decided I must have one :) We’re having a beach wedding like you, so I’m excited to see how yours turn out!
