Do Us a Favor…

March 17th, 2011 @ 9:46 am by Mrs. Cotton Candy

…and help us fancy up our favor boxes! The boxes for our favors arrived on our doorstep this week and, although I’m not quite ready to share what will go inside them, I need the hive’s help with the outside.

Our boxes are 4 x 4 x 2 plain kraft boxes; alone they’re pretty plain, and I’ve been trolling the internet for the past couple of days in search of some possible ways to pretty them up. I’ve narrowed it down to these six, but can’t decide which one I like the best.

Do Us a Favor... : wedding favors riverside Favor2

A. source B. source C. source D. source E. source F. source

A.Take advantage of my newfound pom-pom-making skills and top them off with poms.

B. Go the simple route and tie them up in a bow.

C. Bite off Mrs. Penguin’s idea and top them off with a tissue pom.

D. Create a fanciful scroll.

E. Bite off Mrs. Sprinkle’s idea and give them the faux bois treatment.

F. Make use of all of the leftover yarn from our pom pom garland and seal them up with yarn.

So tell me, hive: which one should we go with? Do you have any clever ways to fancy up our boxes?

I love to make these - super easy and very customizable. You can use maps, neat paper, magazines, etc - http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2009/10/make-gift-bow-from-magazine-page.html

I like A and C, but think you should pick the easiest.

I like C… because it can stay on the box. If you wrap it in paper or ribbon they will take it off and the box is plain again. Put a pom pom on the lid and it stays pretty

I like B… maybe with a wide lacy ribbon to dress it up a little?

I pick A because I think your heart pom-poms were too cute for words and your guest list is small enough to keep this project manageable.

A or F - use the yarn you already have - it will tie in to the theme nicely too.

I’m personally partial to C, but only because I think those tissue poms are crazy easy to make. :)

I also say what is easiest for you to make. There will be a lot to decorate and all options look great. Sometimes it is easiest to stick to one them or idea-so if you are already doing pom poms, go with the yarn or pom pom option– Good luck!

I have to say that my fav is the tissue paper poms. But, if you already have the yarm and are fabulous at making those poms then you should consider the first option too. I think they both look very fun!

F! The yarn would totally go with your “handmade modern” wedding! Plus, I just saw this yarn wrapping idea right before reading your post:

I think your poms (choice A) are super cute, but I also like the simplicity and DIY ease of F. I would worry that C or D would be tough to transport without crushing the tissue pom/scroll.

My absolute favorite and in my opinion cutest one is option D! Buuut I think that for your wedding, considering your table numbers and style, the most aligned one would be option F (which is my number 2 preference…)

A or F for sure. Yarn is a part of your wedding, so this seems like the best choice.

Don’t do “D” unless you can transport them to the reception location (in bulk) without completing squishing the fancy scroll.

Although super cute the poms (and possibly bows) could easily get crushed if you’re going to stack them for storage/transport. Just something to think about…

What about a stamp? You could even emboss it if you wanted.
