Mrs. Lox, Baltimore Age and Occupation: 33, Government Worker Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35. IT Consultant Engagement Date: May 8, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m an East Coast gal born and bred and a suburban brat turned city rat for the last year. Now Mr. Lox and I enjoy walking all kinds of places, having the coolest things around in our backyard, and especially our garage parking. I love gadgets, toys, Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby ice cream, monkeys, and our insane cats. I’m a blonde by birth and a redhead by choice. I’m that girl in the cubicle farm with all the cool toys and the file cabinet covered in magnetic poetry. I still use smiley faces in my emails, whether people like it or not. This is not the first rodeo for Mr. Lox nor me. And together, we are planning an intimate afternoon wedding on a budget we can afford by ourselves.

The Lox Invites – Part 1

March 17th, 2011 @ 6:48 pm by Mrs. Lox

I have reason to believe a few of these little gals are still traveling to their final destinations, so even though it’s unlikely this will spoil anyone’s surprise I’m still going to draw it out. Alright, let’s admit it… it’s just plain old more fun for me this way! Anyhow, without further ado, let’s get to the goodies, and the invite I made just for the hive. :)

Smudging out the return address really hurt. You’re going to have to trust me when I tell you that our return address stamp is gorgeous. I got it from Etsy seller emililies. Now, I’d like to point something out right here. I really really really would have loved colored envelopes. Just imagine this with an orange envelope, right? I mean… right? But the bottom line was that these invitations were already on the high side and I couldn’t justify buying more envelopes when they came with these. Budget bride win! Also note the wraparound return address label. And no, I don’t care that Emily Post might hunt me down in my sleep. I printed them. But that wasn’t my point… these were specially designed for me by our very own Miss Tartlet! Isn’t she the sweetest? I thought so. Wait until you see the back…

See? Because we had an awesome return address stamp already, Miss Tartlet designed them to have our monogram on the back! I tried and tried to find a template that I could customize to have our monogram where the return address usually goes. But none of the templates would let me do that. So Miss Tartlet rushed in and rescued our invitations! Hooray! Want to see what’s inside?

Yep, I lined the envelopes. I think there have been enough envelope lining tutorials on here to last you all a lifetime, so I’ll spare you the details on how I did it. I decided to do this on a whim one night and I already had all of the materials on hand. Plus, it makes me happy. Because I used paper I already had, there are many different colors and patterns on our envelope liners. So our guests all get something different! Which, of course, they’ll never know unless they compare invites, but it amused me for a while at least.

I also made the belly bands, for what it’s worth. That we can discuss after the invitations have been revealed. However, my dears, we have reached the end of this post so the rest of the invitations will have to wait for another day!

How did you address your invitations? Are you on the Emily Post hit list with me now?

I love everything about that invitation suite! Especially the liner. Sweet.

Oh, and the heck with Emily P. I’m pretty sure your labels took more time and effort than my handwritten STD addresses. Oh, and they’re legible :). A+.

@sdrury89: No worries! Emily Post is a famous etiquette guru. http://www.emilypost.com/

@Miss Ostrich: @Mrs. Earrings: @Mrs. Locket: @Miss Elephant: Tartlet is for sure the bestest. And I’m so excited to be making good use of the monogram!

@Miss Pain au Chocolat: @Miss Biscuit: The liners make me super happy. I don’t even care if no one else notices because I’m just that glad I did them. :)

@lifegavemelimes: @Miss Biscuit: I’m gonna find a bunker where we can all hide from the etiquette police, but we better hurry. ;)

@Miss Cotton Candy: Oh it’s coming. I mean, soon. ;)

@MissCasey: Hooray! I think those may have been my favoritest (and simplest) detail!

We decided soon after getting engaged that the theme of our wedding would be “Screw Emily Post.”

I love the invites! I wish someone would send me a wedding invitation with lined envelopes.

Emily Post is totally going to hunt me down in my sleep. We’re planning on running our envelopes through the printer and using a nice swirly calligraphy font. As if I have handwriting that nice!

I know exactly what you mean about blurring out the return address stamp!! It hurt my heart when I had to do the same…but I’m sure it’s gorgeous.

Can’t wait for the rest of the reveal.
