Mrs. Elephant's Picture
Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Operations Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager Engagement Date: March 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: The Tribute Golf Club About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
About Mrs. Elephant

Hey hive, I could really use some help with the jewelry for my rehearsal dress! I picked up a blue strapless dress (I’ll be wearing the same dress in purple for BM Philly’s wedding in August!) and now need to figure out how to accessorize it.

Sample dress when shopping with BM Philly

Since I will be borrowing Mrs. Champagne’s earrings for the wedding, I thought about wearing the original earrings I purchased for the rehearsal dinner (Thanks for the suggestion hive member Lindsay12.31.2010!).

With that dress, and those earrings, would you suggest wearing a simple necklace (most likely the one that I wear everyday given to me by Mr. E for Christmas a while back)?

Or should I skip the dangling earrings and wear a bolder necklace?

What do you think? Bolder necklace and stud earrings, or the blue earrings and a simple necklace? I’m also open to any other necklace suggestions you may have!

Love this dress. It looks lovely on you. I am pretty sure it’s the same style my MOH is wearing for our wedding. I think you should wear your goregous earrings, that you bought for the wedding. Although a statement necklace would really make a statement. I know I wasn’t much help.

It’s tough because I love the earrings, but with a simple strapless neckline like that, I think I like the bolder necklaces!

Hmm, that’s a tough one. I LOVE your blue dangly earrings, but some of those necklaces I really like too.

I think it depends on the formalness of your dinner.
Fancy dinner= blue dangly earrings and simple necklace
Less Fancy dinner= simple earrings and one of the last 2 necklaces.

I vote for your original earrings and your simple necklace. While I’m not one to say “don’t buy any more jewelry”, I think those earrings are beautiful and match the dress really well. And I think wearing the necklace from Mr. E is a sweet gesture.

To me, that dress screams for a bold necklace.

At first I wanted to say necklace because I love the bold statement, but for some reason now I am liking the bigger earrings better. I say go with the blue earrings!

i love the chunky necklaces, but for your rehearsal go the elegant route and do the earrings and a simple necklace. and then get some FIERCE shoes to go with it!

@Kcoleybear: HAHA, that’s my problem, I have the same train of thought as you. The earrings are so pretty, but like @Mrs. Spaniel: says neckline is almost begging for a bold necklace.

@ItsPronounced_ABear: I think our dinner might fall in between fancy and less fancy, if that makes sense. We’ll be having a Mexican buffet, but it’s in a nicer restaurant.

I like the dangly earthy option. You already have it so you won’t gave to spend time looking like you would with the bold necklace. (love the bold option too!)

I think the dress would look great with a bold necklace, but I am very sentimental so the necklace from Mr. E gets my vote. Plus I think it will look great with your pretty earrings!

@Crabbabs: @Falcon: @Chocolatte: I think if I didn’t already buy those earrings it would make the choice easier, but it would be a waste not to wear them at some point in our wedding weekend! I don’t know if you can tell in the picture, but I do have the necklace on.

That should have read “earrings” not earthy. Silly iPhone spell correct…

I say Go Bold Or Go Home….my pick with the blue earrings is the necklace interwoven gold/white/blue strands!

Wow! I’m with the people who say try both. Maybe necklace #1 and the blue earrings?

I love me a bold necklace! I think either combo will look fantastic with your dress, but statement necklaces #1 and #3 jump out at me!

My sister makes amazing jewelry http://www.etsy.com/shop/metalreign . The necklace called Dripping with Swarovskis in Crystal would be gorgeous on you! She takes custom orders and can do silver or gold and any color Swarovski Crystals to complement your dress/wedding.
