Mrs. Glasses's Picture
Mrs. Glasses, Tokyo/Los Angeles, CA Age and Occupation: 24, English teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, English teacher Engagement Date: September 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: Parents' backyard About Me: I’m an expat living in Tokyo. I’ve been in Japan for almost three years now, where I met my fantastic English fiance. It’s time to leave Japan, so we are planning a fun, intimate, backyard ceremony back home in the suburbs of L.A. in October. Our wedding will be a mix of my love for food, beer, my Japanese culture, and Mr. G’s Englishness. We are on a tiny budget and DIYing almost everything!

I can’t imagine a more perfect place to take engagement photos. I know there are lots of great places out there in the U.S. of A., but Tokyo really is an awesome place. Let’s take a look at some of the areas we hope to be shooting at and some inspiration!

If it’s a clear day, a perfect view of the Tokyo skyline can be seen from the Odaiba islands.

Skyline e-pics are so dramatic! Rep your city!

If the weather’s not so nice, we can go to Asakusa, the shrine district of Tokyo. It’s a bit cliche, but when are we going to have this chance again?

After getting some snaps of the skyline, we’ll move to Tokyo Station. What we’re looking for here is pictures of trains, tracks, and crowds. And of course we’ll do some sweet PDA in the middle of it all. We spend a significant amount of time on trains, and so do these couples!

Except, you know, everyone on our trains looks like this:

Then, as the sun is setting, we’ll head over to Yoyogi Park to get in those cherry blossoms! It was tough to find inspirational cherry blossom e-pics, but I found and bookmarked tons (and tons and tons!) of autumn foliage.

When it’s dark, we’ll finish off in Shibuya.

Cool, huh? It’s got an insane crosswalk where people can cross every which way! Chaos and city lights! Shibuya is Times Square on acid and sushi, so I took inspiration from Mrs. Sushi.

I have to admit I’m pretty nervous about taking the e-pics. I’ve never had my picture taken professionally before, and it’s a little embarrassing making out in front of people.

Were you nervous or shy when you took your engagement pictures? What did you do to get over it?

In before the comments about it: the “statue” pictured in this post is a tourist attraction that doesn’t resemble the real Statue of Liberty. I am not calling the Statue of Liberty stupid, I’m calling that particular “statue” stupid!
