It’s hard to believe that after a 19-month engagement, King Hippo and I are finally getting hitched. It’s kind of surreal, actually. It seems like we’ve been talking about the wedding (or I should say, I have been talking about the wedding) and planning for this forever, and I truly cannot wait to see it all come together tomorrow. Eeeeeeee! We’re getting married tomorrow!

We arrived in Dallas a couple of days ago, and it’s been a bit of a whirlwind ever since. We’ve run a ton of errands, including getting our marriage license so this whole thing can be official.

I have to say, the most interesting thing happened as we were waiting to get our marriage license.

The government office we went to had a separate room just for marriage licenses. There were three couples there, including us, and we were all sitting in the waiting room chairs, which faced the computer area where each couple met with the staff person. Of the six people in the room about to get married, four of them were cheery and in great moods. The other two? Miserable. Well, I take that back—the woman in the third couple didn’t seem all that miserable, but the guy? Miserable. As in, he seemed like he would rather have been anywhere but there-miserable. As in, he couldn’t even fake enthusiasm-miserable. As in, you should not be getting married if you are THAT miserable getting the marriage license! When they were finished with all the paperwork, the guy pretty much stormed off and the bride hurried to catch up. It was so awkward to watch, and really sad, actually. But… it did make me so incredibly happy and thankful for what I have. King Hippo is not only amazing, but he wants to marry me with all his heart, and I am so incredibly lucky. I know this unequivocally, and I couldn’t be happier to have King Hippo as my husband…tomorrow…I’m going to have a husband tomorrow!!!!

Hive, thank you so much for letting me share my wedding plans with you and for all your support and suggestions along the way. I can’t wait to show you how it all unfolds! But now, it’s time…
