I love reading and recycling, Photoshop and reality TV, making lame jokes and then laughing at them, quoting movies, and Mr. Hyena most of all. We're planning a laid-back, unintentionally DIY wedding with a cocktail-party vibe, and can't wait to celebrate our nuptials with our nearest and dearest!
About Mrs. Hyena

Really?!

March 19th, 2011 @ 11:35 am by Mrs. Hyena

It’s not that unusual for Mr. Hyena and me to go on nice dates; we try to go out somewhere nice every few months or so. In January 2010, we had planned to go to a nice dinner. I had my suspicions about a proposal coming, but I wasn’t getting my hopes up since I tended to overanalyze every single event we went to or hosted for proposal potential. Better to not get my hopes up so I wouldn’t be disappointed. :) This time was different, though. We’d been ring shopping recently and talking about marriage A LOT.

So Friday afternoon I came home after a bad day at work to find red roses on my front porch. That was when I got really suspicious, but I was still determined to not get my hopes up! I debated whether to get pretty or get REALLY pretty while I tried to keep my cat from eating the roses. I got all dolled up, and Mr. Hyena came to pick me up. I told him thank you for the flowers, but said I wasn’t going to kiss him since I had lipstick on and I didn’t want to get it on him. He said, “Well, then, this is going to be difficult for you,” then got down on one knee in the middle of my living room and asked, “Will you marry me?”

My exact reaction was, “REALLY?!” I wasn’t expecting it that soon in the evening! I quickly followed that with a “Yes!” Believe me, I got some teasing for my response! :)

Too funny! I responded with “for real??….Do you have something you want to say??” and got a bit of teasing for that. His mom dropped a hint that he’d be doing something really important on NYE and he ended up popping the question at Christmas. I was totally surprised!! (also…he paused…and i was like…well…….???)

That’s a great proposal story, sounds like it was a true surprise! My fiance did the same thing, we wanted a vacation and I planned out a Seattle trip. Even though I knew there was a proposal coming soon I never expected it on the vacation I planned, on the first night we got there (which was two days before my birthday) and before a surprise space needle dinner!

Love it. I responded with “you nerd”.

Then I said of course I will. I think I was just so surprised. That is all that could come out of my mouth for a good minute or so.

Cute story, great response! ^_^ I love the “I can’t kiss you, I have lip stick on” thing. I do that too! I always give him a warning: ok, make out with me now because I’m going to go put lipstick on!

Oh girl…. my response when he got down on one knee was “are you f-ing kidding me?” Classy broad, that’s me :) I think there’s a lot more of us (with the crazy responses) than you’d think. One of my best friends said “Duh!”.. we’ve never let her live it down :)

I reasoned to a “is that real?” when he showed me the ring? His response was “what do you think?” He wouldn’t let me near the ring till I answered?

There was a little more to it b/c instead of asking “Will you marry me?” He said “what would you say if I asked you to marry me?” I told him people who proposed were supposed to have rings - I was sure he was just pulling my chain……

When he asked me to marry him, it was at 3am and I’d just come from the toilet, I had been ill the entire evening. We were supposed to go out for dinner earlier but I was too weak. So when I came back to bed, he got on his knees and told me he couldnt wait any longer. I was shocked and couldn’t believe it. I was also a bit irritated because he couldn’t wait till I looked and felt better. It really came as a surprise as we had been together for 9yrs and I had pestered him about it throughout.

Lol at least you could say something I completely turned my back to him and cried and he just laughed and called my name. He still teases me about that.

I responded with “Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?!!” because I had so convinced myself it WASN’T going to happen on that day (after getting my hopes up numerous times). I think at that point he was just waiting for me to say yes!

I kept saying, “are you serious?” I must have said it about 6 times before I said “of course!” and launched myself at him hard enough that we almost fell over! So glad that he was serious ;)
