Mrs. Magic's Picture
Mrs. Magic, Chapel Hill, NC Age and Occupation: 30, Licensed Clinical Social Worker Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Researcher Engagement Date: December 1, 2009 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Barn at Valhalla About Me: I’m a tall drink of water (5’10”!) and a Southern bride with an enormous appetite for Mexican food, good deals, anything French, and all things wedding! By day I am lucky enough to work with individuals with autism and their families. By night, I’m even luckier to be able to spend time hanging out with awesome friends, crafting, shopping, thinking about exercising, and kicking it with Mr. Magic and our two cats. I tend to have sudden, intense cravings that will not be denied (seafood enchiladas! new jeans!) and I’m prone to being a disorganized mess of anxiety and stress. After waiting (and waiting!) to get engaged, I am finally planning the colorful, fun, fabulously awesome Fall wedding of our dreams. In an effort to share the fun and craziness that is wedding planning, I’m gonna blog about it for y’all---the good, the bad, and the pretty!

Common Decency Be Damned!

March 19th, 2011 @ 4:10 pm by Mrs. Magic

If you’ve been following my posts, then you previously read about my old age and how I had already accumulated a bunch of useful junk. This is the follow-up post you’ve been waiting (with bated breath) for.

Yep, this one’s all about what I would register for if factors like landfills filling up and societal courtesy didn’t exist. Just call me Veruca. Veruca Salt.

First, I want some brightness!

Next, add some whimsy!

Is there a way to register for mismatched but still coordinating china? Wait a sec…that’s a brilliant idea! “Get That Vintage Look” registry! Too bad this exists already…check out Miss Tartlet’s post or jump straight to the Antiquaria site!

Throw in something practical, useful, yet so lovely…

Common Decency Be Damned! : wedding chapel hill regsitry Inspira02 Built-in book shelves

I heart built-in bookshelves way more than the average person. Aren’t these lovely and so functional? (Source)

Not having built-in bookshelves is the main flaw in our home. That, and it’d be nice to have a wider front porch. And a larger entryway. And a mud room off the garage that we also don’t have. And a screened-in back deck. So add all those things to the registry, too.

I’d also like to register for some cash. I know it’s crass and tacky and all that, but it wouldn’t be cash for just any purpose. It’d be cash for these…

How great would it be if, on the day of our wedding, we could pay off my student loans???

SO GREAT.

Back to stuff.

I’d like to register for this rug, and I’d like our cat Isabella to never pee on it.

What would you register for if you were a Veruca?

I actually removed my fine china from my registry this morning because I felt there was too much on there. I have unbelievable registry guilt. Not too mention I live in a small city apartment where our current plates are too wide for our cabinets…
We aren’t inviting enough people for me to justify the china. Sigh.

I so would like to register for cash to pay off my student loans too… That’s a great idea. LOL

Then I would register for a maid so I can stop being upset when I come home fussing about the toothpaste in the sink and of course the bookshelves. Yea that is all.

Oooh, I like this game!

Built-in shelves
A new couch or two. (We have one profoundly ugly and uncomfortable loveseat now.)
New mattress
Nice TV
New computer monitor
Fancy honeymoon

Oh, to have student loans paid off! I would register for a Tempur-Pedic mattress to permanently ward off my lower back pain. Love your picks!

I looove those Anthro Latte bowls so much - my old roommate had them and I’ve been trying to justify purchasing them ever since I moved in with bf, even though we already have a full set of dishes.. Hm.

I would also love built-in bookcases, or for Mr. H to allow me to paint chevrons in one of the rooms of his house! Student loan money would be nice as well.

You have great taste! Or at least taste very similar to mine. Although I think I have great taste, so I stand by my initial statement. :)

I think you ought to reconsider registering for at least the dishes! They are so sweet, and the idea of having a mismatched set could be a really nifty gift registery… (Maybe you could register at a local antique shop…)

Some bedding from Anthro, a Mini Clubman, a month’s stay in Costa Rica, a cute little house (circa 1910 but with all the mod cons and 2 or more bathrooms) in my favourite neighbourhood…

The latte bowls (in coral) were gifted to my mom this year. Absolutely love those super saturated colors.

If there were no limit on sanity or reason, we’d probably register for a mattress or a sleeper couch for our guest room. Then again, I might be creeped out receiving a mattress as a wedding gift…

I would so love having a book shelf so tall I need a ladder to get to the top. Pretty much sounds like heaven to me!

VERUCA SALT?????? That made me laugh out loud. Seriously. You’re dating yourself, Missy. Mr. Crown and I hope to get cash, too, but wonder how we’ll get the word out. We’d love to use it to put toward the balance of the mortgage. Neither of us will be able to retire without it. Can’t think of a better wedding gift for a couple of oldsters like us.
