Mrs. Cotton Candy's Picture
Mrs. Cotton Candy, Riverside, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Field Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Process Server Engagement Date: July 5, 2007 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Riverside Art Museum About Me: I’m a girl in love with her best friend planning a small mid-century modern inspired wedding that’s been a long time coming. I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. My wedding muses may not be your typical wedding superstars, but with a lot of DIY, a dash of offbeat style, and lots of love and laughs, Mr. Cotton and I plan to create a day that is unmistakably us.

Flowers: The Details

March 21st, 2011 @ 2:19 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

Previously I shared with you these flower inspiration pics:

After some discussion with our coordinator and florist, we’ve narrowed down our flowers to the following:

Our reception flowers will be a mix of tall, short, and bud vases staggered across the long tables. The tall arrangements will have a single stem of Phalaenopsis orchids in these vases I picked up at Target a couple months back.

I absolutely adored these vases at first sight. Unfortunately for me, the store we were in only had two in stock so we had to spend several weeks visiting four different Targets to collect enough for our wedding.

For our small arrangements we’ve been collecting milk glass bud vases from our local thrift stores and swap meet, and they will have a mix of Fiji mums, tulips and ranunculus.

Since I trust our florist 100% I didn’t bring any bouquet or boutonniere inspiration photos with me to our meeting. The only idea I came to the table with was wrist corsages for my girls and hints of sparkle in the form of hand wired brooches for both their flowers and mine, similar to this picture:

Other than that, our personal flowers are a mystery and I’m actually excited about it. Bridesmaid S and her mom are super talented and creative, and know our wedding and personal style so well that I know on our day we won’t be disappointed.

How specific were you with your florist when it came to flowers?

Loving your flowers… ironically they are super similar to ours! the only exception is that we’re also incorporating orange cala lillies (my fiance has MS and it’s the color for MS). your ideas are simple and elegant - great choices.

We actually went to the appointment with a ton of photos because my mother’s family is in the flower business and are from the Netherlands. So, flowers are super important to us!

I *heart* Bells of Ireland! One of my BM’s best friend used them in her bouquet (and centerpieces, I think) and they lasted for-EVER. They’re the perfect shade of green, too. :)

Gorgeous! I adore tulips and was so sad we were getting married at the wrong time of year for them.

How specific was I? I brought my whole laptop with flower images sorted into folders by moods then subdivided into favorites. But I trust our florist completely!

I’m in flower-heaven-love with your choices, CC. The brooch inside the flower bouquet makes my heart race!

I’m about to do take 2 with my florist. I plan to come super equipped so she doesn’t bring out the book from 1982 again.

I love ranunculus - am having them as well for my wedding! But I’d never heard of ruffled tulips, and I love them!!
