Mrs. Barrettes's Picture
Mrs. Barrettes, Tumon, Guam/Napa, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Dancer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Licensed Building Contractor Engagement Date: November 16, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: V. Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!
About Mrs. Barrettes

A Napa Fairytale: We Ride off into the Night : wedding napa pictures pro pics recap 1 1

10/10/10 was winding down and it was time to send us off into the world as husband and wife. The remaining guests gathered in the courtyard to wish us well, high-fiving us through their tunnel of love.

I envisioned rose petals for the send-off, but we improvise pretty well, and our families rallied with their centerpieces and arms.

Once we popped up on top of the stairs, Mr. B mounted the bike and a small panic set into my excitement. “Can he drive?! Isn’t he wasted?!” Once on the bike behind him, I seriously contemplated hopping off when he couldn’t start it right away. I was honestly pretty scared. I remember saying, “Ummm..I don’t think this is such a good idea,” but no one seemed to hear me.

He assured me he was fine (which I knew he wasn’t), but I figured if I was going to die, this night was as good as any. The engine roared, the guests did too, and a sudden jolt of cool air rushed past my ears.

Clutching my groom for dear life, we rode off into the night for the first time as husband and wife!

Great storytelling! What’s a little fun without some memorable risk-taking. :)

Hi,can I say something to you ? I have already buy a wedding dress form http://www.weddingdress.com.ph/ .It Looks so good. The prices look really low..too low. My wife like it very much, so do I. It offers free shipping and handling to anywhere in the world. They also say you can choose ANY colour you like for the dress you want and they’ll custom make it for you. This all makes me a little skeptical. Is it a valid site? If so, were you satisfied with your order when you got it?

hm.. ok so I have to say I don’t comment on the blogs a whole lot but I have been following your wedding which I thought was BEAUTIFUL. But this post kind of bugged me and I couldn’t not say something…

It just seems pretty irresponsible to be so nonchalant about drinking and driving. Not to be all after-school-special-y on you or anything but he wasn’t just risking his own life and yours by being “wasted”… he could have killed other people who didn’t get to make that decision that your wedding night was an ok night to die.

Just had to be said. Sorry :( Otherwise– your wedding was beautiful.

OK, the two of you on that bike…. Hot. And, the most awesome getaway photos I’ve ever seen!

I’m also horrified at the cavalier attitude toward drinking and driving, and shocked that Weddingbee would run a post like this. You weren’t just risking YOUR lives. I’ve lost a family member to drinking and driving, and I’m deeply offended by this.

OH my gosh! That last photo is seriously epic! Blow it up huge and put it in every room of your house.

You two are rock stars!

@CorgiTales: Your wedding is beautiful, but seriously, I hope you pulled over immediately after getting your cool photo. Not cool.

@periwinkle: Hey, no need to have a go at CorgiTales. I think she was just trying to soften the blow.

And I agree with her completely. I almost wish that Mrs. Barrettes had left out the bit about drinking and driving, instead of addressing it with such insouciance. I’m sorry, Mrs. Barrettes–I really like your posts and have enjoyed reading them, but this was just really unsettling.

@CorgiTales: @AM: @periwinkle: Sorry you ladies were offended. We went in a circle around the parking lot and there were no other vehicles around us. I certainly would have not gone on the road like that. Thank you for your comments.
