I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. My wedding muses may not be your typical wedding superstars, but with a lot of DIY, a dash of offbeat style, and lots of love and laughs, Mr. Cotton and I plan to create a day that is unmistakably us.

100 Days and Counting….

March 22nd, 2011 @ 6:43 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

Last week we officially hit 100 days out, and things are happening at the Cotton Candy house! Projects are being finished, to-do’s are being crossed off, and money is being spent. One of the most satisfying check mark on our list has nothing to do with DIY, décor or attire, and everything to do our budget.

In the many months since we officially began planning our wedding, Mr CC and I have been diligent with our budget. We have spent many evenings reviewing our budget and discussing our saving plan in hopes that come our wedding, all the funds we need are in place to pay all of our vendors. This month, all of our discussing and planning paid off, because we officially booked our final vendor and now know how much money we’ll be shelling out to vendors in the weeks leading up to our wedding. More importantly, we know how much money we need in the bank to pay all of our vendors off.

Thankfully for us, we are officially on our way to paying off all of our vendors with a little wiggle room for any unexpected expenses along the way! I’m not going to lie to you, Hive: I was a pretty scared to start crunching the numbers, but once we did, it was time for a happy dance! Relieved doesn’t even being to explain how we feel to know all our careful planning had paid off. Now we can get back to more important things like finding a bracelet and convincing Mr CC that he indeed needs to buy a new suit.

Have you hit any planning milestones? Has anyone else felt the relief of knowing you’ll actually be able to pay for your wedding?

100 Days! Awesome! They will go by in an eyeblink, no doubt. I admire your steadfastness in sticking to your budget. So very, very smart. You will be starting your new life with well-developed budgeting and negotiating skills…absolutely essential for a happy and healthy marriage.

So glad your planning paid off! I definitely cringed a bit once I started marking payment dates off in my calendar, but it’s a relief to know how much things are going to cost. The guessing game was the worst! And YIKES–if you’re at 100 days, that means I’m…*gulp*…

Ack! We are at 25 days and our budget has totally been busted and I’m a bit in panic mode about paying off venders… mostly this is due to the fact that I have absolutely no decorating/design sense and bought a ton of stuff that we’re not going to use! All those little purchases really add up!

Bravo! I am 9 days away and everything has managed to check itself off except for one thing - wedding music! Not sure how we’ve spent 2 years planning a wedding and put this off for so long but you have inspired me. I am definitely getting it done TONIGHT!!

Two great milestones at the same time, fantastic!! We’re also finally getting down to the real numbers but are still missing some figures, hope we’ll be able to do the happy dance like you did!
