Mrs. Jaguar's Picture
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
About Mrs. Jaguar

So hive, how was your weekend?

If yours was full of sunshine and clear skies, then you experienced the complete opposite of Sydney—it has been raining non-stop for the past 48 hours. Luckily, I had the perfect surprise phone call on Friday night: Mama Jaguar rang me to let me know that a parcel had arrived for me. Let’s just say that as soon as I discovered it was from the United States, I was in my car and driving to her place to pick it up, and lots of squeeing followed. (Have I mentioned that I inherited my love of stationery from my mum?)

I can’t think of a more perfect way to spend a rainy weekend, than holed up indoors with a cup of tea, some Melrose Place reruns and my two boys (both human and feline), especially when it involves putting together invitations, organising addresses and hand-writing envelopes. I am SO excited about our wedding suite, it’s not even funny.

I can’t share the finished products with you just yet, since they are still making their way to our guests as we speak. But I CAN share a sneak peek with you. Both of these pictures are courtesy of Kristin, from Twin Ravens Press, the genius behind them.

The invitation itself …

… and the RSVP card

We are having our guests respond (ideally) a month early, as our venue is super strict on numbers and final pricing. As such, these babies are going out in the post yesterday, and I’m already counting down the days until I start seeing the RSVP cards in our letterbox.

How early did you send out your wedding invitations?

We sent ours out about 2 1/2 months ahead of the date, with the RSVP dealine at the one month mark! Love the sneak peek of your invites! Opening ours was like Christmas morning!

Those are beautiful! Letterpress is just to die for! I have my invites all ready to go and am just waiting to mail them out. We need RSVPs back early as well but we also just mailed the STDs in February. I am thinking May is when I will send them off, even though the wedding isn’t until September.

Gorgeous! We’re on a similar time line for mailing/RSVPs for the same reasons (strict venue rules on final #s and pricing). Can’t wait to see the rest of your invites!

Ohhhhhh letterpress … This whole not-being-able-to-touch- through-screens thing, someone needs to get on that!

Can’t wait to see more! We sent ours out early, but I’m happy to have the final headcount in advance for budget and seating reasons.

@ktisthatbees: I hear you on that one. My mum & I were so loud, my dad came out to see what we were doing, rolled his eyes & then disappeared again. I obviously inherited my stationery obsession from her!

@xtatic1: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being early - but then, I’m constantly early for EVERYTHING.

These are absolutely wonderful! Just lovely! Even though there are so many fun, colorful invitations out there (including mine!), there is something so refreshing, calming, elegant, and downright PERFECT about simple, letterpressed invitations.

@Miss Hyena: Seriously!?! The paper is the most lush, lush stuff I’ve ever touched.

@Miss Elephant: I feel the same way: I’ll be much less stressed knowing about numbers that bit earlier!

@twinravenspress: I can’t wait to share the finished product. I am so completely in love with them, you did an amazing job!

@bRooklynRocks: I know how that feels! I was sure I couldn’t do letterpress (especially through Aussie printers - talk about steep pricing) but then when I researched doing regular paper ones & sprucing them up, it worked out to be not THAT much more expensive. That being said, it’s still something I definitely budgeted for, since I’m a freak about all things paper.

@Mrs. French Fries: Thanks, lovely! I hope you’ll love the finished products, too.

@Miss Lox: We haven’t got a huge suite, but we kept it simple and gorgeous. Can’t wait to show the hive!

@Vix: Wow! I heard the South Coast was drenched. Hopefully you get some sunshine this weekend!

@BrightYellowGaloshes: Thank you! We picked them as simple as possible, focusing on the gorgeous paper & fonts - because they’ll fit with our traditional wedding.
