Time to Address This…

March 23rd, 2011 @ 6:07 pm by Mrs. Lox

Okay, so now you’ve seen our invites…both the parts we bought and the parts we made. So let’s talk about how the few things I made for them came into being! First up  are the wraparound address labels.

Now, like I said before, my graphic design skills are…well…actually, they aren’t. Like, at all. I might be good at a lot of things in life, but graphic design has never been one of them. I’m great at coming up with ideas of what I want, but totally lack execution skills. Enter our very own Miss Tartlet. This post of hers hit the blog in the height of my wraparound label obsession. She took pity on my poor self and designed the labels I was dreaming of. And they neatly printed out on 8.5×11 paper too! Needless to say, I’m still grateful. Also, how awesome is the hive? So so awesome. ;)

Apparently I lack a picture of that awesomeness. Moving on then… I printed the labels on 80 lb white cardstock and used my trusty paper cutter to trim them out. Then I used my Xyron Creatopia (I knew I’d figure out something to do with it eventually!) to make them into stickers. See?

From there, I just had to take the plastic top layer off, stuff and seal the invitation envelope, and apply the label.

I totally used wrap around labels and everyone loved them! For those of you without a Xyron you can order just about any sized label from onlinelabels.com and just print them yourself. I used the 7″ x 2″ and their template and printed them on my work computer (during lunch of course). ;)

If you don’t have a Xyron (or just want to skip a step), you can print directly on to sticker paper! I did and it works great!

Love it! We’re doing wrap-around labels too! I fell in love with them right at the end of my design/print faze and had to bang them out rather quickly. I actually made them (5 to a page) on Publisher with 1/4″ margins - sent them to the local print to be printed on full sheets of sticky paper and will be using my handy cutter to separate them. SO EXCITED to see the final project come together (I’m assembling this weekend! EEK!)

Love the wrap around label! I think they’re so cute, but maybe I’m a little biased ;)

@katiegirl84: Thanks!

@SBourgeous: Martha has a template for them here if you’re interested: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/goodthings/ready-and-labeled?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/downloadable-tags-and-labels#slide_17

@xtatic1: @elkennedy: Good advice! Another alternative is to use regular paper or cardstock and an adhesive runner too.

@SuperShopper: Ooooo, I hope they turn out great!

I’m having total gadget envy over your Xyron Creatopia! Random question…how did you get your printer to accept the 80 lb card stock? Ours eats a sheet about halfway and then jams (granted we have an HP that’s over 4 years old).

I have used the MS template several times…I just print them on sticker paper and then cut them out. Also, I cannot customize them at all bc I am graphic design impaired.

I love yours! Love that cute heart!

I used wraparound labels too. To do it, I used the template on the Martha Stewart website, and ordered pale pink full page labels from onlinelabels.com. Once I printed them (5 to a page), all I had to do was cut them out! $30 for 150 labels. And they turned out SO nice!

I am ordering 8X2″ labels from labelsbythesheet.com and will be printing them at home. The provide a template I will use to design them. Can’t handle cutting straight so I am trying to avoid it wherever possible.

I like the wraparound labels, but they’re not quite me. I just ran my blue metallic envelopes through my printer. There’s a little pink swirly above the addresses, since “swirls” is more or less the theme of the wedding.
