Wedding Hairstyles

March 23rd, 2011 @ 10:12 am by Mrs. Crepe

A couple days before I left for Nashville, I found out that a friend of mine might not be able to attend the wedding because of a scheduling conflict. SAD FACE! Besides the fact that this is disappointing because we’ve known each other since we were kids, I didn’t realize until that moment that I had my heart set on said friend for hairstyling help, since she most definitely has the skills. She graciously offered to teach me how to curl my own hair for the big day but I have serious doubts about being able to pull that off myself.

Now, I’m starting to lean towards looking for professional help but I’m not really sure where to begin. If we were having the wedding in NY, I would head straight to my usual hair salon but since we’ll be in Nashville, I’m at a loss. To help ease the anxiety, I started compiling some inspiration photos on various looks that might work for me..

Originally, I had wanted to leave my hair down, create some loose curls and top it all off with a headband, like this:

But now, I’m thinking about whether or not it’s too simple, especially if I’m hiring a pro. This image looked like something that was close to the original idea, with a special detail in the back to keep it interesting.

I also liked this next look and think it can be translated into a more formal style, cleaned up and curled at the ends. It helps that I have bangs that look like this so it’s easier to picture in real life.

And then I came across these photos this morning and LOVED how soft and romantic the style was. I’m not sure that my bangs will grow enough to create as dramatic a side sweep but I’m keeping this in my inspiration folder!

Hive, I need your help!! I think you can tell that I’m all over the place with this. Give me any crafting project and I can tackle it but I’m completely stuck when it comes to bridal style. Advice on which style to go with? Should I stick with the original plan and keep it simple?

(Calling all Nashville locals: does anyone have tips on where to find good hairstylists at fairly affordable prices? I might be able to schedule a trial while I’m in town this week!)

the last pic with soft curl is really pretty, you can do that for the ceremony and let your hair down at the reception :)

I love how romantic that last one is! But I also love that second picture, with the detailing in the back. Wavy, but fun.

Clearly, I’m no help ;)

My photographers wife is a hairstylist and I may use her to do my hair (if she can do it at roughly 7:00 am) and she only charges $65. Her name is Trae Howard & her email is hairninja@yahoo.com

Also, my friends has a great stylist that she uses. Although I’m sure she’s a bit higher. Her name is Patti and she works at Street Gypsy in Midtown. Her number is (615) 327-8988.

If I can find any more info I’ll pass it along. I’ve got to find someone for my September wedding that doesn’t mind getting up early to help me look pretty.

I love headbands so I’m a fan of #1, but you’ll look gorgeous with whatever you choose!

You have beautiful hair go with the curls and the headband. It will look amazing on you.

If you have the time, try them all and see how they feel to you…will you be able to stand having hair around your neck all day? Will an updo really stay up all day and night when you want to boogie down? Will you still look a lot like yourself and feel beautiful?

You’ll look fabulous whatever hairstyle you choose, but I’m also crushing on the loose curls + headband combo! Especially since you have bangs already, it’ll frame your face so well!

The second pic was one of the ones that inspired me for my hairstyle as well. The last hairstyle is just WOW.

That’s hard to tell - I definitely like the second and last one, but the first one would probably be the easiest to pull off! You should definitely try to see a hairdresser, good luck in finding one!

I like the ponytail idea with curls instead of a braid
