Re-Accessorize!

March 25th, 2011 @ 1:49 pm by Ms. Sloth

One of the cool things about blogging about your wedding is that after you’ve been doing it for a while, you really get to see the evolution of your ideas as they bloom.

Back in October, I was sure that I’d be wearing a very simple wedding dress with very bold accessories. I even had my eye on a crazy-colorful necklace from Etsy seller alusciousthing.

And then I bought a dress. And then I bought another dress. And then I bought another dress. While all three dresses were fairly simple, they all had enough detail that I thought the necklace would be overkill.

So I needed new jewelry.

And then there was the shoe issue, in which my pink shoes broke and wouldn’t go with my new hair accessory anyway. And I bought a pair of silver shoes online which looked nothing like the photo and didn’t work out.

So I needed new shoes.

As usual, the hive was amazing and provided tons of suggestions for shoes earlier this week. However, I did manage to find a pair on my own that very night. They were on sale, fit all of my super-specific criteria, and the reviews online said that they were comfy.

Now, let me digress for a moment. I have never been the type to care about labels, stores, or designers. But when I saw what line these shoes came from, I felt reluctance, even though they were adorable. You wanna know why?

They’re Paris Hilton shoes. And I can’t help it, you guys. I loathe her so much. And I hated making a purchase that would result in even one dime going into her pocket.

But the shoes are so cute, and I was desperate, so I sucked it up. And I’m wearing Paris Hilton shoes on my wedding day.

As far as the rest of my accessories, well, here we go:

I snagged these cute little earrings from Anthropologie on sale.

As far as a necklace goes, I decided to wear an old standby, a necklace that I have owned for quite a while and have probably worn 3 or 4 times a week since I bought it from Etsy seller pianobenchdesigns.

I love my “Love” necklace. Although I wear it all the time, it’s special, and what better necklace to wear on my wedding day? So it’s settled.

And then there’s that hair accessory I’ve been hinting at for a few days. But that deserves a post all its own! So stay tuned!

Where did you get your wedding jewelry? Would you wear an old standby piece on your wedding day or do you want everything to be brand new?

I bought not one but two necklaces for my wedding day ensemble…but I did it before I had a dress! Now that I have my dress I am second guessing my purchases and may need to buy YET ANOTHER one! LOL…I do LOVE that first blingtastic necklace you posted tho..swoon. :-)

I’m dying to wear a statement necklace.. but my dress is super-airy and perfect for my beach wedding… and my mom thinks the one I like looks tacky- even with it’s $700 price tag. So, I may end up with a simple pearl necklace. Boring. I love your original pick.

I wore a pair of white gold, filigree, deco-style drop earrings that I have had for 15 years, no necklace, new shoes, and my DIYed hairpiece. So I had a little of both old and new :)

Your shoes and earrings are great! I do agree with you that Paris Hilton is loathsome lol

My necklace is a family heirloom, and at some point I’ll pick a pair of earrings from the stash I already have! Those shoes are super cute and will look great with your BHLDN dress!

I LOVE the shoes! I have a pair very similar in fact. http://www.dsw.com/shoe/mt+josie+satin+peep+toe+pump?prodId=195088

I am very lucky in that my great grandmother left me a lovely crystal bead necklace. I have had it for years and never once wore it b/c it was too fancy. I couldn’t wear it with my dress, because I am wearing a halter and it just wouldn’t have gone.

So my mother is super crafty and she made me earrings and a great bracelet to wear on the big day!! I am so glad that I will be carrying a piece of my Nan with me all day!
