Mrs. Cotton Candy's Picture
Mrs. Cotton Candy, Riverside, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Field Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Process Server Engagement Date: July 5, 2007 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Riverside Art Museum About Me: I’m a girl in love with her best friend planning a small mid-century modern inspired wedding that’s been a long time coming. I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. My wedding muses may not be your typical wedding superstars, but with a lot of DIY, a dash of offbeat style, and lots of love and laughs, Mr. Cotton and I plan to create a day that is unmistakably us.

The Bridal Cherry on Top

March 28th, 2011 @ 5:26 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

Oh, veils. What is it about a yard or two of tulle attached to a comb that can make you feel so bridal?

I have a love hate relationship with veils. In theory I love them in all their frothy, dramatic, here-comes-the-bride wonderfulness, but in practice I’m not a fan. They get in your face (duh, that’s the point right?) they can get in your way, and for our tiny little wedding, a veil might be a little too much. Sigh…I love them even if they are too much for our wedding, so I’ve decided to indulge in my love in moderation and sport a birdcage veil on our day.

After some shopping I’ve decided that a delicate tulle birdcage veil was exactly what my day-of ensemble needs. Something like this:

Or this:

Or even this:

And if I was bold enough, this:

As of right now I think I’m leaning towards the first one. It’s just enough veil to feel bridal but not so much that it overwhelms. I’m also a big fan of the puffiness of the second veil, and the last one is so dramatic and lovely that it makes me rethink my whole bridal look.

Anyone else feeling the love for the tulle birdcage veil? What are you ladies topping your wedding day look off with?

I LOVE birdcage veils, but I didnt have the face to pull one off. The first two are my favourites- so delicate and beautiful!

I’m really kind of madly in love with that first veil. In fact, it’s enough to make me reconsider my own veil opinion. Must… not… buy…

A tulle birdcage never occurred to me. That would actually be a nice alternative to the “catches my eyelashes” usual birdcage netting or too-long traditional veils.

To be honest with you, I like the first one. But without really knowing what your dress looks like I can’t give you a final answer. But I can tell you that with what you are planning, Simplistic in this case is more elegant. :)

The first one is the best. I’m wearing a birdcage veil, too. But it is fishnet and has lace accents near the crown. =]
