There are some incredible invitations out there in wedding world. I mean, just check out the awesomeness from my fellow blogging bees these past few weeks: precious lovey dovey invitations from Miss Lox, vintage boxed goodies from Miss Tartlet, amazingly detailed invitation boxes from Miss Pancakes, and whimsical floral sweetness from Miss Prairie Dog.
As a stationery nerd, there are few things that get me more excited than invitations. The hardest part about getting started is deciding what you want and working with it—there are so many different styles to choose from! For the Jaguar invitations, I had a few inspiration goals in mind: they had to be simple, traditional, and elegant.
Kristin at Twin Ravens Press made the design process nice and easy for me—I simply picked a font and swirl graphic used on a previous design, and then adapted it to fit what I was looking for. To keep costs with the letterpress printing down, I decided to print with only one colour—and while black on ivory would’ve looked great, I opted for a shade of grey to match our colour theme. Combined with the gorgeous design, I think they turned out perfectly. What do you think? These first three images were all taken by Twin Ravens Press, blurring courtesy of yours truly.

It kills me to blur the details out since I’m fairly sure you’re not wedding crashers—I’m doing it for the folks, really. But trust me when I say that the invitations are much more symmetrical without all the privacy-shielding.
So now that I had this gorgeous invitation suite, the big question was how to package ‘em up. Since I’ve been failing in the DIY-department lately, I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. For this reason, I decided to use something I already had plenty of lying around: ribbon! (Thank goodness I basically bought out the ivory, green and grey ribbon from my local craft store—I’ve been using it for everything lately.) I wrapped each invitation suite together with one of the three colours, but I personally think it worked with the ivory and grey ribbon the best. Here are two of the final products, wrapped in slightly different ways. I started out wrapping them together like the second image, but ended up putting most together like the first, to really show off the gorgeous swirls.

Tucked in behind the RSVP card were the matching envelopes and our contact details.
It’s hard to describe how absolutely wonderful the texture of the paper was, or the embossed printed details—all I hope is that our guests will love it as much as I do. Even Mr. Jaguar, who would’ve been happy with our wedding invitations being sent out on paper napkins, was impressed with the quality of it all. By now, most of our guests should have received their invitations—and I’m already compulsively checking our mailbox everyday waiting for the RSVP envelopes to make their way back to us. First one? Mr. Jaguar’s grandpa. Good job, Gramps. For that, you get an awesome seat at the wedding.
How did you decide what invitation style you wanted to go with?
