Inviting the VIPs: An Update!

March 29th, 2011 @ 6:24 pm by Mrs. Lioness

Remember when we invited the president, the pope, and Mickey Mouse to our wedding? And we heard back from both Walt Disney World and Disneyland? Six months later, I had begun to give up hope on the president, when I found this in our mailbox the other day:

Not sure if you can tell by the photo, but the return address is printed via thermography. The text is beautiful and raised.

We opened the envelope to find this lovely piece of card stock:

Just The Obamas wishing us a happily ever after…no big deal.

If anyone else wants to give it a shot, the address is:

The Honorable and Mrs. Barack Obama

The White House, Greetings Office, Room 39

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW

Washington, District of Columbia

20502

Anyone else heard back from their VIPs yet?

We must have been lucky, we got a response from the Obamas in less than a month, back last June. It’s framed in our house now!

You can also get one for milestone b-days and anniversaries - We got one for FIL for his 80th b-day and I also got one as a little extras something to put in a family member’s wedding gift. You can request them on the White House website.

Quick question…did you include an RSVP card and return envelope or did they mail the card in their own envelope?

We got one from the Obamas, too! We sent our invites January 9th, and received the congratulatory note on March 16th (but who’s keeping track….). We included the RSVP postcard, but got the same card you did, which we expected. It reminded me of when I was younger and wrote to Bill Clinton demanding that I be allowed to vote, and he (well, one of his staffers) wrote back to kindly dash my hopes.

I just sent ours out today. I’m a few days short of 180 in advance, I hope we’re lucky enough to get a congratulations back.

We did that, too. I was so excited when we got the card. It’s sitting with all of our wedding stuff, waiting for me to decide what to do with it.

I sent one to the Obamas a few months after you, and I just got mine last week. I wonder if they do the whole stack all at once?

I just showed Mr. PaC your presidential invite. He had no idea you could do that.
