Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.

DIY: Ribbon Escort Card Display

March 30th, 2011 @ 3:18 pm by Mrs. Brooch

You may remember how I wanted to do a butterfly ribbon escort card display and Mrs. Pretzel helped make the butterfly escort cards. Well, we’re just about finished with this project and I’m so beyond thrilled to share it with you!

I was really anxious to start this, but I didn’t have a lot of ribbon. I bought wire and hung it in a large walkway in our house and pretty much hung what I had at the time.

Looks pretty pathetic, huh?

Well, around the same time Mrs. Pretzel’s package of butterflies (with each of our guests’ names already printed on them!) arrived, I also got a ton of pink ribbon and some green tulle! Now look where we are:

Can you imagine how this is going to look in our photographers‘ pictures? Squeeeeeeeeee!

I think what really makes this neat is the butterflies. In these pictures there are only about 10. It’s going to look so much better with 100! I absolutely ADORE these cut outs! Thank you, Mrs. Pretzel!

Even after the cards, ribbon, and tulle, something was missing. That’s when we added the pink and green butterfly clips across the top. Note to self: a little bling will take any project from blah to beautiful!

It might sound corny, but I have the hive (you guys!) to thank for this awesomely unique project! It was you all that gave me the idea to use pot holders for the base, which made it possible! Thank you! Oh and without Mrs. Pretzel, well, there’s absolutely no way that I could have pulled this off!

What does your escort card display look like?

We’re having our favors do double-duty as escort cards. We got photo coasters with this cute hearts and swirls pattern on them (which totally goes with our swirls/vines motif), so we’ll put the guest’s name and table number where the photo would go.

I think it is going to look amazing!! I’m not sure what we are going to do about escort cards. I’m leaning towards personalized menus on each place setting.

Lovely! I like how the density of the ribbons makes it look like a curtain! And the bling clips definitely made it look better!

Oh, I love this idea. We didn’t have escort cards, but it looks like it’ll double well as decor!

I should acknowledge I am very impressed with that. I’ve glanced at a ton about it already however your point of view very widened my eyes to another means of thinking. Cheers .
