Mrs. Hyena, College Station, TX Age and Occupation: 23, Marketing Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Aerospace Engineering Grad Student Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: Downtown 202 About Me: I'm a Texas girl who met my future hubby in high school, then headed up to Oklahoma for a college education (BOOMER SOONER!) before moving back to the Lone Star State to be with him. I love reading and recycling, Photoshop and reality TV, making lame jokes and then laughing at them, quoting movies, and Mr. Hyena most of all. I'm perpetually early and I like to get things accomplished. When my cat meows at me, I meow back. We're planning a laid-back, unintentionally DIY wedding with a cocktail-party vibe, and can't wait to celebrate our nuptials with our nearest and dearest!

Defining Moments

March 31st, 2011 @ 5:18 pm by Mrs. Hyena

Awhile back, Mr. Hyena was working on booking the cruise for our honeymoon. We’re going to be cruisin’ around Key West, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica, mon!

Defining Moments : wedding college station honeymoon legal Carnival

But this post isn’t about that. He was on his computer, and I was on mine, and I glanced over at his screen right as he was typing my name into the site. He clicked on the “Title” box—scrolled past Mr., Dr., Miss, Ms., and clicked on Mrs.

“Mrs.!” I exclaimed.

“Yeah…we’ll be married by the time we go on this trip, remember?” he said.

“But…MRS.!” I’m very eloquent.

He started to scroll back to Miss, but I stopped him.

I get that I’ll be a Mrs. No problemo. It’s just that, in all these months of planning, it’s easy to forget that there’s a destination in mind. It was one of those moments where I remembered what we were doing all this for, and in the end he’ll be my husband.

When I remember this, I’m really happy. :)

It still feels like the wedding is really far away, but I like these moments that remind me that it’s real. What moments make you insanely happy (or make your SO think you’re insane)?

I totally get this the other day I was talking to someone and said “It will depend on where my Fian… I mean Husband gets stationed wait yeah my husband.” Not in a bad in a way that I have been his girlfriend for 6 years and it is weired to think we are finally starting our lives together which suddenly changes our titles.

The concept of wife will take some adjustment. Wondering how many times I’ll accidentally sign my maiden name after the wedding!

Heh… I had the same moment when we were doing our pre-cruise online documentation something-or-other. You had to state whether you were single or married (why? I have no idea) and I couldn’t figure out what to do. I’m single NOW, but I’ll be married when we board the ship… I think I put “married”. But, I also used “Ms” - I think because I’ll still be using my maiden name since I won’t have any updated IDs or passports by then.

The other day Mr. Tartlet referred to me as his “wife” in an email to someone. I think he just said “well, it’s close enough.” That totally floored me, and I had an “eloquent” moment, too. ;)

hehe, just yesterday when I was at the doctor’s office I was thinking the next time I go (hopefully no more trips between now and the wedding) I’ll be able to check married and not single.

King Hippo called the spa to book a massage for me on our honeymoon and said, “Yes, my wife would like …” Teehee!!! It was so great!! Loved it!

Happy you had one of those moments! But be careful that you book everything in your maiden name, as that will be what’s on your passport and identification (unless you’re taking your honeymoon later on and have enough time to change it). Those cruise people have to make sure everything matches up, or you don’t get on the boat!

I almost died with giddy girliness filling in my married name on our marriage license (which we only got a few months before our wedding).

And are you going to be on the actual Funship Ecstasy!? I took that one to Cozumel with my in-laws in 2009. :D

@Mrs. Taco: Oooh, I didn’t think about that, how exciting! We’re actually going to be on the Freedom ship, not the Ecstasy. I’m super excited, I’ve never been out of the U.S. before!

@ktisthatbees: I agree!

I get really happy when I think about life after the wedding. I love planning, but it’s the part after the big day, when life will be a little less hectic, that I look forward to most. Oh, and when Sparks refers to himself as my husband, haha, I guess he’s getting anxious :)

Aww! The first time I got introduced as a Mrs. I had to stop and remember that was my new last name. ;)

I have a tendency to scribble my last name when signing things like credit card receipts, one day I realized that was only going to be my last name for 6 more months! Now I write it out every time while I still have it.
