Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY
Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law
Engagement Date: June 15, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Heron Hill Winery
About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
As a refresher, so far you’ve seen the girls and me get ready, my dress, all the pretty details, and my walk down the aisle.
Upon reaching each other, our hands, like magnets, were instantly joined and our eyes locked onto one another’s (mine were trying very hard to hold back tears).

Age and Occupation: 29, Field Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Process Server
Engagement Date: July 5, 2007
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Riverside Art Museum
About Me: I’m a girl in love with her best friend planning a small mid-century modern inspired wedding that’s been a long time coming. I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. My wedding muses may not be your typical wedding superstars, but with a lot of DIY, a dash of offbeat style, and lots of love and laughs, Mr. Cotton and I plan to create a day that is unmistakably us.
Recently the mister and I spent an afternoon shopping in Olde Towne Pomona Antique Mall in search of vintage cake plates for our dessert buffet (more on that to come soon!). We struck out on the cake plates, but I was able to pick up these pretties to add to my wedding-day look.

Mrs. Crepe, Queens, NY/Nashville, TN
Age and Occupation: 28, Jewelry Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Animation Director
Engagement Date: September 28, 2010
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: A church in downtown Nashville
About Me: I'm a native New Yorker who has always been a DIY kind of girl and loves tackling creative projects while getting the most out of a dollar. I'm marrying my college sweetheart and we love frequenting antique stores, exploring together, and playing with kittens. We're planning a fun, "us" wedding in his hometown---with as many handmade touches as we can pack into a day!
Bridesmaid G. was my college roommate in school and she’s quite the crafty one herself. She’s a toy designer by day, and by night she’s my personal little sweatshop worker. Just kidding! She loves using her gorgeous antique sewing machine, and since I’ve got my hands full of little DIY projects in the meantime, she was totally on board to help with sewn decorations.
Have you guys seen the use of bunting (aka pennant banners) in wedding decor?

Mrs. Lace, Pasadena, CA
Age and Occupation: 29, Elementary school teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Engineer
Engagement Date: September 6, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Orange County Performing Arts Center
About Me: Born and raised in Southern California, my fiance and I are marrying in Orange County. We're planning a vintage wedding with a modern twist. I am an elementary school teacher by day and a wedding planner by night. I love reading, blogging, scrapbooking, trying out new DIY projects, buying awesome finds at incredible deals and spending time with friends and family. Trying new restaurants, traveling and shopping also top my hobby list. I'm anxious to share my wedding ideas and planning with the hive!
I’ve been dreading writing this post. You can probably tell from my sporadic blogging that I’m trying desperately to hold on, but it’s time to let go. About two years ago, when I began planning my wedding, I typed these fateful words into my Google search bar—”wedding blog.” I was hoping to get a few ideas here and there, some inspiration and nab a few great wedding vendors. Little did I know, clicking on that catchy title “Weddingbee” would spark a nearly two year obsession. I applied to be a bee not really thinking I’d be accepted. I think that’s how most bee bloggers feel when they submit their application to Weddingbee. Who’d want to read MY writing? What great ideas do I have? But Weddingbee is about much more than just getting good ideas. It’s a community.
Oh hive, you listened to me gripe, worry, stress and celebrate. My DIY projects, my indecision, my (not-so-helpful) tips. How can I leave you?! If you read my last post, you know that I’m still addicted to the wedding world and I don’t want to let go, but every season must end before a new one begins.

Venue: Al Cielo / La Laguna
About Me: I’m a tech-savvy tomboy with an affinity for hot tea and good sushi. Us Meerkats are just a couple fun lovin’ geeks from Michigan. We love anything having to do with movies, books, video games or technology and we hold a special place in our hearts for our two very spoiled shih-tzus, Wicket and Bravo. We also LOVE to travel. We love it so much it only took us 12 hours after we got engaged to decide to have a destination wedding. We are working our little Meerkat tails off planning a rustic-chic, travel themed destination wedding in the Riviera Maya with a semi-formal, vintage-turned-modern, outdoor at home reception back here in Michigan.
How about a quick photo sneak peek of what’s ahead in this post?

We were lucky enough to arrive a couple days a head of our guests so I had time to assemble the OOT bags in the evening. The first thing I did was lay a few of them out so I could take a picture. I mean, isn’t that what every blogger bride does when assembling something for the wedding? *grin*

Mrs. Giraffe, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 23, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Music Student Teacher
Engagement Date: October 23, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country Club
About Me: Coming from the suburbs of the Windy City, you'll often find me with my foot in my mouth while laughing for no reason or telling bad knock knock jokes. I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
There’s been a lot of talk about bridesmaids’ gifts around late, like from the lovely Miss Jaguar and Miss Hippo. I always told myself, way back before beecoming a bee, that I would totally blog about this is the future because..
Well, because it isn’t easy!
After I began shopping, the whole deal was pretty painless and I’ve got gifts I’m so excited about, but pre-shopping? I was not excited. Not at all.
See, all my girls (all whopping six of them) are all very different. How on earth do you buy 1 gift (because, of course, I wanted to do matching gifts), for 6 different people?

Mrs. Taco, San Francisco
Age and Occupation: 29, writer/editor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 37, editor
Engagement Date: May 13, 2009
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: The Green Room at the War Memorial Veterans Building
About Me: I like laughing and talking with good friends over good food and good drink, be it wine, cocktail, or brew. I write and edit things for fun and profit, but I rarely "write" these days without a keyboard and high-speed internets. Favorites include Mr. Taco, my Boston terrier, San Francisco, getting out of town, and the Roaring ’20s. I was kind-of planning a wedding since roughly 2006, when I discovered "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on the WE channel. I ran and didn't look back with a theme I called "urban vintage," and it culminated in the most magical day a taco could ask for.
As with all parties with dancing, things got going the more people had to drink. A couple recaps ago, I fretted over how, when, where, why, and who would start the whole raging wedding dance floor. Rage it did, at some points more than others. Here’s some more of it, if only because there were so many great action shots and because these people rule. It makes my day to see them having a great time, especially fueled by liquid courage.

Exactly.

Mrs. Lioness, Atlanta
Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Attorney
Engagement Date: August 29, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: Anthony’s Fine Dining
About Me: I’m a Southern girl with New England roots. I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!
You know how people say that things can and will go wrong at your wedding? The unexpected happens, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do to make it better? Well, we’ve had our fair share of that lately.
First of all, we met with our venue the other day to discuss final numbers. Guess what? They brought up the how-do-we-serve-cake debate, or “Cupcake Wars” as I have now nicknamed it, again. I thought we had come to the compromise of serving the cupcakes and groom’s cake family style so that our guests could choose, but we wouldn’t end up paying for too much cake. Well, they brought it up again because they thought I had made the “wrong” decision. Yep. That’s the word they used. Wrong. I won the argument again, but I have a feeling I won’t be so nice about it if it’s brought up a third time.
Secondly, I’m down a bridesmaid. Mr. Lion’s sister has decided not to attend our wedding. My FMIL is still very upset about it, so I don’t want to go into it out of respect for her. I’m actually okay with it. I figure, if someone doesn’t want to be there, I don’t want them to be either. Besides, being a bridesmaid is an honor. If she doesn’t want that honor, I don’t want to give it to her. It feels like I’d be taking something away from the other five girls who have truly been there for me.
Then yesterday, my FMIL sent me this text:

About Me: I am a toast-loving, list-making, occasionally crazy California girl getting dangerously close to marrying her crime-fighting, patient, man's man fiancé. I’ve never left our hometown of Clovis, CA, I love Anthropologie so much it almost hurts, appreciate promptness, love that our 4lb. Chihuahua, Murphy, smells like Fritos, am irritated by windshield wipers that move too fast for the amount of rain, love me some cold weather, have an unhealthy obsession with boots, and wholeheartedly think that my family is everything. Mr. Oatmeal is, oddly enough, my brother's best friend. He's also the best thing that's ever happened to me, and together we are planning a vintage chic, backyard, spring wedding with a few nontraditional touches while trying to keep up with our crazy lives.
Oh, hey there. Remember me? I’m Oatmeal, that gal who disappeared off the face of the planet. So let’s get back to some wedding goodness, shall we?
In an effort to embrace the “something borrowed, something blue…” tradition, I have found myself one hell of a bracelet that rocks a bit of blue. I found this little gem at the place where dreams come true (and no, I’m not talking about Disneyland, folks): Anthropologie. Many of us have a true love for this store, as is appropriate given their stellar, one of a kind style. Miss Cinnamon Buns knows what I’m talking about.
I think this bracelet is truly gorgeous and something I would be proud to wear again and again after the big day. And here it is:

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Medical Student
Engagement Date: May 2, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: The Royal Park Hotel
About Me: I'm an exuberant gal from the Midwest with a penchant for Neuroscience and anything sparkly. I'm not afraid to poke fun at myself, and I'm a believer that given the right pair of shoes, a girl can conquer the world. While an interest in the sciences threw Mr. Tartlet and me together (again, and again, until it finally stuck), we share a love for many things---food, video games, car dancing, food, bad puns, travel, did I mention food?---that ultimately led us to where we are now, less than five months from becoming Mr. and Mrs. We're planning a laid-back, romantic, garden-inspired affair with organic and quirky touches that reflect our love for the unexpected!
Last week the lovely Miss Sparkler shared her dreamy engagement photos with us, and not only was I left seriously lusting after a red Vespa, but I was also yearning for the ability to down a bottle of wine and still look that fabulous. You see, both Mr. Tartlet and I suffer from a genetic abnormality where we can’t metabolize alcohol very well. This condition is colloquially known as the “Asian Blush,” even though it’s not exclusive to people of Asian descent. The tell-tale sign is turning red after imbibing even small quantities of alcohol. It’s like a litmus test: Hey-o, Miss Tartlet looks like she’s blushing. She must have had a sip of something! Whooeeee, now she’s lookin’ like a tomato! Better watch out, she’s had at *least* half a beer!

Exhibit A: half a beer (or so) later; Mr. Tartlet has yet to show

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot
Engagement Date: February 21, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery
About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
Hi there…remember me? It’s been over a month since my last wedding recap post, and I’m sorry to have left you all hanging. (You were waiting with bated breath, right? Right?!) Part of it is that I’ve been insanely busy, but the other part is that I’m having a bit of writer’s block. Writing about your wedding ceremony is hard to do, because, well, how do you put all that emotion into words? How do you describe such a life-changing moment? So after starting and re-starting this post many different ways, I’m simply going to share our ceremony with you, as it was officiated by Revered Lili Goodman Freitas.

Lili started the ceremony by thanking our guests for coming from near and far to participate in our special day, and taking a few moments to honor those who could not be there with us.

About Me: I’m a tall drink of water (5’10”!) and a Southern bride with an enormous appetite for Mexican food, good deals, anything French, and all things wedding! By day I am lucky enough to work with individuals with autism and their families. By night, I’m even luckier to be able to spend time hanging out with awesome friends, crafting, shopping, thinking about exercising, and kicking it with Mr. Magic and our two cats. I tend to have sudden, intense cravings that will not be denied (seafood enchiladas! new jeans!) and I’m prone to being a disorganized mess of anxiety and stress. After waiting (and waiting!) to get engaged, I am finally planning the colorful, fun, fabulously awesome Fall wedding of our dreams. In an effort to share the fun and craziness that is wedding planning, I’m gonna blog about it for y’all---the good, the bad, and the pretty!
Remember The Great Purple Debate? Oh, you don’t? It was, like, totally on the news and everything—you must have been swamped that week.
Well, that particular debate raged on and on (in my mind) until bam, eBay to the rescue! I was searching for some wine/fall-y purple colored ribbons to make an awesome wedding craft, and I found a color called currant.
Here is where everything got ca-razy! There were several listings for a currant colored 1.5-inch grosgrain ribbon (pronounced “grow-grain” not “gross grain”…thanks for schooling me on that, Bridesmaid Pumpkin!). Some looked like “the good kind”** of purple…some looked like wino red. I emailed one seller, carriesshowcase, and asked if her currant ribbon was more red or purple…and when she replied purple, I bought it. ALL of it. Two hundred and fifty yards of ribbon, to be exact!
The box arrived! And inside was this:

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager
Engagement Date: October 3, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: Oxon Hill Manor
About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
I agonized for months about what we should do for our guestbook. I really wanted to do Martha Stewart’s Conversation-Starter Guest Books, but making those was going to cost too much money. I also really liked the idea of having a Wedding Tree for guests to “leaf their thumbprint,” but I knew I would have no place to hang something like that in our home. I never planned to spend a lot of money for a guestbook and since I didn’t really have any money to spend anyway, I needed something free more than anything.
Finally, it came to me! I decided to go with a message board! One evening after work, I ran around the house like a mad woman gathering supplies to see if I could pull this off! I’d seen plenty of tutorials online and figured it couldn’t be that hard!
I cut, stapled, cut, and stapled…

This past weekend my mom hosted a BBQ at our family home for the sole purpose of sitting down and speaking with my seamstress. While some may think it’s odd to discuss the details of a wedding dress over a plate of yummy yummy chicken and pasta salad with my ultra-traditional Mexican mom, this is just the way things are done and I wasn’t complaining. We had an excuse to gather up our wedding party, pig out on tasty food, and talk dress. Sounds like a good time all around.
After helping ourselves to some yummy food, we sat down to discuss budget and what would look best on my body. We came to the decision that the dress would have a cap-sleeve illusion top, a sweetheart bodice, and an A-line skirt with a high/low hemline. Need a visual? Yeah, me too!
The bodice will be very similar to this one and will also include the crumb-catcher waist detail:
