Mrs. Ostrich, San Francisco/Hawaii Age and Occupation: 30, Fashion Buyer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, Copywriter Engagement Date: October 4, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii About Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

Take Me For What I Am

April 1st, 2011 @ 5:55 pm by Mrs. Ostrich

It’s T minus 28 days and at this point, the physique you see today will be the physique in our wedding pics.

But unlike many of my more disciplined, dedicated workout bees (Hippo! Brooch!), I’ve been a major workout FAIL these past 3 months. There’s no good excuse but I get some brownie points for sticking to a healthy diet, eating 5-6 small meals a day during the week, with some sweet treats on the weekend. And I’m going to push myself these last few weeks, but I know there will be no extraordinary transformation. I won’t have Jessica Alba’s or Jen Aniston’s smokin’ figure. But that’s OK with me, because when I put on that dress and say YES to that incredible man in my life, sculpted arms and a size 24 waist will be the furthest thing from my mind.

So for my fellow brides who—like me—abandoned the gym these past few months, please don’t feel guilty. You’re still the beauty your partner proposed to and I bet the world that you will make their jaw drop and heart skip a beat. So put down that US Weekly and turn off those fantasy bridal blogs and repeat after me:

“I’m a beautiful bride.”

“And I am SO AWESOME.” :)

My fellow “I haven’t worked out in AGES” brides—what have you been doing to stay healthy? And to my workout mavens—*HIGH FIVE!!* You’re my heroes. :)

*high five* I was so busy the two months before the wedding that anything with the word “excercise” in it just seemed like too much work. And you’re stunning and will knock your groom’s socks off on your wedding day!

I feel you, girl! From house hunting to the craziness at work- I have zero time or energy for the gym. I eat right and didn’t put any unrealistic goals on my list. I got a dress that fit me and it still does and that’s a okay with me!

So true Ostrich! As I near my day, I too realize that I’m probably not going to have 6 pack abs on my wedding. But that’s OK…I mean, you won’t see them through my dress and I’ll look like me. Not some starving version of me who spends all night binging at the cookie buffet. Well, actually, I may do that anyway.

At any rate, I am sure you are going to look absolutely gorgeous on your day!

Um, I’ve eaten copious amounts of desserts and avoided the gym at all costs? Not the answer you wanted? Heeee. In all seriousness, I drink water primarily, which cuts a lot of “drink” calories, and I try to eat when I’m hungry so I don’t over-do it at meal times.

Love this post and you miss O! There are days when i know i should be hitting it hard in the gym but i rather enjoy my time with mister CC decompressing but i am working hard to lower my food intake and keep it healthy.

This makes me feel good inside hehe. I lost 18 pounds last year but have gained most of it back. I hate those ppl who say “oh the stress will make you lose weight…” Um no, obviously you don’t understand stress EATING! Trying to keep it in check so I fit in my dress but I’m kind of over it by now…

I have been trying so hard to get back into the swing of working out but its hard. I did complete the 100 push-up program and now try and do 100 push-ups every night. At least its something.

I want to “like” this post about 30 times!!! FI and I are taking walks together in the evenings now that the weather is warming up here in the south. That is going to be my only “workout” until the wedding :)

Awesome, awesome post. I totally fell off the workout wagon and now I’m scared my dress won’t fit. I won’t get those awesomely sculpted arms like maybe I’d hoped months ago, but I sure hope I can get into my dress in a few months…

Great post! I am full on the workout train now and hope I can keep it up, 5 more months to go. But I run for my sanity not just my figure!

I actually just got back on the workout band wagon this morning, mostly because I’m worried my dress won’t fit… You’re gorgeous and fab and I can’t wait for the next month to fly by to your wedding!
