In my previous post, I talked about how my fear of bad weather made me forgo a stunning, spectacular ceremony location. Still, I’m not sorry about it because I think the one we settled for is much more “us”—not to mention the fact that it does not give me any nightmares.
At the town of Torri del Benaco, in addition to the sweet but open-air lemon grove, they also offer their auditorium for wedding celebrations. Their auditorium is a 14th Century converted church.
When we visited it we fell in love with it: it’s a small, simple church with wooden beams on the ceiling and faded frescoes on the walls. It seats a maximum of 100 people and has wonderful lighting inside.

We felt that, even if we were having a civil ceremony, this church reflected us more as a couple than the other options—not to mention it’s in the next town over from Garda, so it’s very close to our reception location. Unfortunately, it was also more expensive (Why is this always the case?), but we decided it was worth the splurge.
Were you able to find a ceremony location that you felt fit you as a couple?
And honestly, do you think it’s weird that we decided to have our civil ceremony in a church?
