Mrs. Ostrich's Picture
Mrs. Ostrich, San Francisco/Hawaii Age and Occupation: 30, Fashion Buyer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, Copywriter Engagement Date: October 4, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii About Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.
About Mrs. Ostrich

Long story short, about 10 days ago I shipped out 12 large boxes of wedding decor (vintage bottles, sea coral, chevron napkins, linen table runners, parasols, paper lanterns, fans, etc.) to my wedding coordinator in Honolulu. I was super proud of myself because I met our deadline and knew that our coordinator would have ample time to sort through everything, take inventory, and prep for our big day.

Or so I thought.

This weekend, I decided to track the packages when I realized that…

THE BOXES WERE SENT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS.

Right name, right street, but wrong address (527 instead of 587). There was some sort of typo between giving the shipment dude the address and  creating the shipping labels, and even though I swear up and down it was correct when I checked, my wedding-frenzied brain could have been playing tricks on me.

UGHHHH.

And of course, I had an internal panic attack and haven’t been able to think about anything else unti I went to my neighborhood shipping office (thank god I didn’t ship this from the post office—I would’ve been DOOMED) and asked, begged, pleaded my shipment dude to help fix this. He said that he’ll file paperwork and contact the Honolulu post office, but also needs me and my coordinator to contact the same post office with the corrected address and urgent request for delivery of these boxes. I’ll be doing this today…as soon as the clock strikes 9 AM in Hawaii {open open open}.

So I’m asking you, oh powerful, magic filled hive, to send positive vibes this way. Maybe if we all imagine these 12 boxes being delivered to our wedding coordinator’s home in Honolulu, these thoughts will help guide our packages there in the next few days.

I HOPE…ihopeihopeihope.

Thank you for being the most supportive, awesome group of friends a girl could ask for. And thank you for keeping me sane—sort of. I *heart* you so much.

I have realized some things are just out of our hands, and there is nothing we can do. I would usually have a glass of wine, or some sweets, now I run! Seriously~ let out the aggression on a good workout!

Oh no!! Many many positive vibes!! The good thing is Hawaii is a very laid back island and most know their neighbors! It could be worse..if you sent it to NYC you’d be doomed:( BUT I am positive it will work out!!! Let us know!! Fingers and toes are crossed!

I completely get it–I was expecting my lovely envelopes back from the calligrapher today…only to find out that USPS sent them back to her. They got all the way across the country to the next county but the zip was transposed and they shipped it back. Sigh. I totally freaked out, too (they’re already late!).

Hope your stuff all shows up quickly!!

You’ll be ok, it’ll be ok! As a backup, if the wrong address is an actual address, you might consider overnight-ing a simple one page letter explaining what happened, giving your contact info, and asking them to hold the stuff for you if they get it, or to help give it to the right address/coordinator and they will probably feel bad and want to help. And if they don’t get your stuff, then the post office must have helped you get it to the right address/coordinator!

Good luck!!

Why don’t you try to look up the address that it was sent to and call them?

Hoping you get some rest tonight!
