Itsy-Bitsy-Teeny-Weeny-Minimoon

April 4th, 2011 @ 5:44 pm by Ms. Sloth

Our honeymoon is all set and we are Alaska-bound. But due to my busy work schedule, we can’t leave for the Land of the Midnight Sun until about three and a half months after the wedding.

But, I’ll be damned if I’m going right back to work the Monday after we get married. I’m already a giant ball of stress and the wedding is still six weeks away. Mr. S and I definitely want to sneak away for at least a night or two immediately post-wedding, just so that we can relax together, decompress from all of the stress, and just enjoy each other.

My mother generously offered to pay for a quick little trip for the two of us, and we happily accepted. We only have two days, so we can’t go too far. We’d already considered several minimoon options, and had decided on the Finger Lakes area. Parts of the area are too far for us to drive for a two-night getaway, so we chose a city that is only about a four-hour drive from us in Philly.

We’re going to Ithaca!

I think that a cozy room at a B&B and two days of a gorgeous scenery, good food, tasty wine, and together time will be just what the doctor ordered. And we already can’t wait!

Are you going on a minimoon?

FUN! FI and I grew up around Ithaca and our parents still live in the area. I am actually going wine tasting in a limo for my bachelorette around Cayuga Lake! Americana, Lucas and Six Mile Creek are my faves!!

Yay Ithaca! I just spent a birthday weekend there. If you haven’t already made reservations I recommend Dane Emerson house - gorgeous B&B. And (in my humble opinion) the best restaurant is Just a Taste - fun, romantic tapas place.

Have fun!!

Hi! I’m not sure when exactly your wedding is in May, but make sure that if it’s one of the college graduation weekends (Cornell and Ith College), you either book wicked early or avoid the actual city altogether as it will probably be jam packed! Just something to consider!

A wine trail sounds intensely romantic and relaxing! Glad you get some well-deserved time alone with the Mr. after the wedding!

My wedding is in Ithaca!! If you two are bagel people, I think that Collegetown Bagels rivals the best bagels I’ve ever had in NYC or anywhere else. Also, if you don’t already have a place to stay, consider La Tourelle!! Great Staff, great restaurant, and great spa! Super relaxing for a weekend getaway (and not too shabby for our wedding venue either, if I do say so myself)!

Whatever minimoon you choose as long as the two of you are together then that it is just so fine. As for me I didn’t experience a minimoon since we went straight to a honeymoon. I would want to go to another one though.

I’d go on a mini-moon if it meant Finger Lakes wine tastings! You two are getting the best of both worlds: a quick escape now and an epic Alaskan honeymoon soon.

Omg Ithaca is so amazing! Have you ever been? You have to eat at Viva la Taqueria, it’s not expensive but the food and tequila are sooo good. And walk along The Commons. And go wine-tasting. And it’s probably too cold to swim in the gorges, but you can explore them anyway. Wow, I’m so excited for you - FI went to Ithaca College and he has brought me there so many times, now I’m completely in love with the place. Have so much fun!
