Showered With Joy (Again)!

April 5th, 2011 @ 12:06 pm by Mrs. Brooch

You know you have an amazing mother-in-law when she insists on throwing you a bridal shower! I didn’t think anything could top my first shower, but the second was just as beautiful. There was a delicious sorbet punch and great food including chicken wings, and pasta salad (a few of my personal favorites). I felt wonderful and supported by family and friends. And there were gifts, and well, more gifts!

Oh yeah, and there was another delicious cake!

The shower my MIL hosted was quite a bit different than my first shower  because we played a lot of games. There was a word scramble and name game, but best of all we played that game where you make a wedding gown out of toilet tissue! The reason this game was so much fun was because the grandmothers were the models!

This is Mr. Brooch’s father’s mother, Gran-Gran! Doesn’t she look great?

These three contestants (Mr. Brooch’s great Aunt, Rose, Gran-Gran, and his mother’s mom, Nana) were such awesome sports! Believe it or not, I think they really enjoyed getting draped with toilet paper!

Once everyone left, my MIL suggested we get out of the house to give her a chance to clean up. My good friend Emily was in town for the shower, so we hopped in the car and headed to bowling!

Do you have any friends that mesh really well with your fiance? Emily is one of those friends! She and Mr. B have a great relationship, and I love it!

They both beat me pretty badly in bowling and even though free pizza was included with our game, none of us had much room left in our tummies after the delicious food and cake from the shower. Needless to say, it was a wonderful day!

Did you have more than one shower?

Getting close family members (like grannies) into the act is a key to success! I’ve featured the fathers of the bride and groomalong with two of the groom’s uncles as the Village People during the festivities, which is what created and maintained such a well-received, room-wide focus.

I love games. My mom was one of the models for our wedding dress game. It was hilarous!

Hey! Just for those who are going to be attending a shower (I know I have a bunch). Gilt Groupe is having a bridal shower sale today (I got some beautiful lace and blue ribbon panties for a bride friend). Here is an invite if you aren’t yet a member (though I’d be surprised- most people are nowadays!)- http://www.gilt.com/invite/sl29

The toilet paper dresses look pretty good! I like the idea of escaping the post-shower chaos to hang out with friends.
