Mrs. Earrings's Picture
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student Engagement Date: February 14, 2010 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Gardens of the World About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
About Mrs. Earrings

A Midsummer Dream: And We're Walking... : wedding new zealand pictures pro pics recap 188663 188663_

(guest photo)

So far in writing my recaps, I have found the ceremony posts the hardest to write. How can I sum up so much with just a few words and some pretty pictures? Anyway, I will try my best!

Our programmes ready…and also, apparently, the BMs’ purses (guest photo)

While Mr E and I took photos in the garden, the ceremony area was transformed from bare to beautiful. As the guests arrived, Cousins P and S handed them their programmes and ushered them to their seats.

Notice Cousin P’s face in the photo above? Yeah, there were at least five rumors circulating at the wedding as to how it got so beaten up. My favourite is the one about the flower girl bashing him with a parasol. :D The truth was that he had swam into the bottom of a pool by accident. I think. Anyway, like I said, there was lots happening while we were taking photos.

While everyone was getting seated, Jim Martin, warmed up on his guitar…

…And when the boys were ready and waiting up the front…

…he eased into “Hey There Delilah” by the Plain White Ts. Everyone rose and turned to watch us come down the aisle.

Sister O was brave and went first (actually…we pushed her. We hadn’t really thought about who was going to go first. Oops). She was followed by Bridesmaid M, and then MOH A.

Aren’t they so beautiful and poised?

And then it was flower girl M’s turn. At the last minute she decided to carry my parasol and her bouquet down the aisle…which resulted in every photo of her walk looking like this:

A Midsummer Dream: And We're Walking... : wedding new zealand pictures pro pics recap C615 c615

Hehe. Not what I planned, but cute, yes?

And then…I heard the first few notes of “Here Comes the Sun,” and it was my turn.

To me, it seemed to take ages to get down that aisle. According to the musician, we rushed down it! I blame Dad, of course :D

Side note: My uncle (the officiant) is a kiwi but he went all American with his shirt and tie so that Mr E’s relatives wouldn’t feel so lonely. :)

I took Mr E’s hands, and my uncle dived straight into the service. Let the ceremony begin!

Did you “rush” down the aisle at your wedding?

OMG why do I keep tearing up at all of these ceremony recaps?! This really doesn’t bode well.

Anyway, you look AMAZING - I love that picture of you and your dad looking at eachother.

And FAB music choices! I love the parasols, too.

Love love love all of your recaps. I worry about the song lenght also…my “aisle” isn’t very long and a “step wait step wait” to drag it all out will seem so wierd. Do you just fade the song out if you get to the front before the end…or in my case, probalby the middle? Or do you let it play out while you grin at each other?

Mrs. Earrings I must tell you how in love I am with your wedding. I love everything from the petal strewn aisle to the chalkboard sign to the bridesmaids accessories to the beautiful lace parasols. Everything is just so sweet and speaks to me of bygone eras. It makes me a little teary-eyed.
