Mrs. French Toast, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Marketing & PR Fiance's Age and Occupation: IT geek by day, self-proclaimed handyman by night Engagement Date: October 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Palm Event Center About Me: I’m a city girl at heart who moved to the suburbs a year ago. Now I’m adjusting to life with a front lawn, nosy neighbors, cooking attempts, and making sure the garbage pail is pulled out on time every week! When I’m not traveling, Mr. FT and I enjoy marathon sessions of Law & Order: SVU, snowboarding, photography, spoiling our 3-year old yorkie-poodle Mokka and disagreeing over what music to listen to in the car. We’re planning a small winery wedding while incorporating some cultural elements into the day as a nod to our Chinese backgrounds.
About Mrs. French Toast

While most brides usually run errands like crazy or pamper themselves a week before the wedding, this is what I did:

Eat an apple?!?!

I was in line for seven glorious hours to get my hands on the iPad 2. I’ve mentioned before that “March 2011″ is considered the month of the iPad 2, so what better way to mark the French Toast wedding than with the gadget itself?

I wanted to purchase the iPad2 for Mr. French Toast as a wedding gift, but since the iPad would have been delivered after our wedding if I’d ordered it online, I took Friday the 11th off from work so I could wait in line and get it in person.

Little did Mr. French Toast know that I also made Father Toast dig out a small camp chair for me from the garage, drove to Panera bread to grab a sandwich, and proceeded to wait in line for the next seven hours with my friend Al, a fellow Apple fanatic. Between getting coffee, taking bathroom breaks and even a little bit of shopping, the wait didn’t feel too long.

The folks in line were really friendly and EVERYONE was excited about the launch of the product. Five hours went by, and by 3PM, Apple closed its doors so they could do the big unveiling at the store. They hung black drapes along the windows so people couldn’t peek inside.

At 4:30, half an hour before the official launch of the iPad, the Apple employees, clad in their blue t-shirts, came out and walked down the line to show everyone the screens.

Each person was limited to 2 iPads and 2 screens. Right on the dot at 5PM, the media arrived, the doors opened, balloons popped, and you could hear applause all around the block. It was an adrenaline-rushing experience to walk in the store with the employees cheering us on on and yelling, “CONGRATULATIONS!”

The gift was presented to Mr. FT on the morning of the wedding by GM Travis. I’m still patiently waiting for the pro photos and our friend’s video to see Mr. FT’s reaction. I waited in line for seven hours and wasted a vacation day to get this gift for Mr. French Toast…so if that’s not true love, then I don’t know what it is!

What crazy things have you done for your significant other?

Argh! You are lucky! Ours just got shipped a couple days ago and is still in Hong Kong. We are waiting (impatiently!) for it to arrive. Can’t wait to see your recaps!

I totally wanted one before the honeymoon (the resort had wireless by the pool!), but didn’t have the time/patience/desire to wait in line and like you wouldn’t have been able to get one online in time. You are a dedicated WIFE! Teehee… you’re a WIFE!

What a cool way to spend the time before the wedding! So many get so stressed that they become “bridzillas”. There’s no need. BTW, I’m going to get the new ipad too. I hear it’s great for musicians.

Wow, so cool of you to do that. I don’t know what to give FI on the day of the wedding. I’m still stressing about that.

Tell me that your subject line is a Game of Thrones reference! If not, that’s okay!

What an awesome story! You are such a great wife! Just think, by the time you tell your kids (and grandkids) this story, they’ll probably ask, “What’s an iPad?”

:o)
