While most brides usually run errands like crazy or pamper themselves a week before the wedding, this is what I did:

Eat an apple?!?!
I was in line for seven glorious hours to get my hands on the iPad 2. I’ve mentioned before that “March 2011″ is considered the month of the iPad 2, so what better way to mark the French Toast wedding than with the gadget itself?
I wanted to purchase the iPad2 for Mr. French Toast as a wedding gift, but since the iPad would have been delivered after our wedding if I’d ordered it online, I took Friday the 11th off from work so I could wait in line and get it in person.
Little did Mr. French Toast know that I also made Father Toast dig out a small camp chair for me from the garage, drove to Panera bread to grab a sandwich, and proceeded to wait in line for the next seven hours with my friend Al, a fellow Apple fanatic. Between getting coffee, taking bathroom breaks and even a little bit of shopping, the wait didn’t feel too long.

The folks in line were really friendly and EVERYONE was excited about the launch of the product. Five hours went by, and by 3PM, Apple closed its doors so they could do the big unveiling at the store. They hung black drapes along the windows so people couldn’t peek inside.

At 4:30, half an hour before the official launch of the iPad, the Apple employees, clad in their blue t-shirts, came out and walked down the line to show everyone the screens.

Each person was limited to 2 iPads and 2 screens. Right on the dot at 5PM, the media arrived, the doors opened, balloons popped, and you could hear applause all around the block. It was an adrenaline-rushing experience to walk in the store with the employees cheering us on on and yelling, “CONGRATULATIONS!”

The gift was presented to Mr. FT on the morning of the wedding by GM Travis. I’m still patiently waiting for the pro photos and our friend’s video to see Mr. FT’s reaction. I waited in line for seven hours and wasted a vacation day to get this gift for Mr. French Toast…so if that’s not true love, then I don’t know what it is!
