Mrs. Earrings's Picture
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student Engagement Date: February 14, 2010 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Gardens of the World About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
About Mrs. Earrings

A Midsummer Dream: We Declare (Ceremony Part I) : wedding new zealand pictures pro pics recap C629 c629

Welcome to you all as we gather to share in the marriage of Miss E and Mr E.

Once we were all ready up front, my uncle smoothly went straight into the ceremony. It was a hot, hot, hot day. I hadn’t intended to hold my parasol during the ceremony, but in the end, when I wasn’t holding my reading or my vows, I was very grateful to use it to protect my pasty white shoulders! The bridesmaids found them essential, too.

MOH with my bouquet by Bluebell Florists

The ceremony was introduced, our parents and family acknowledged, and then an old friend of the family, Pastor D, was invited to come up and pray for us.

And then we got down to business!

Mr E, of your own free choice, do you take Miss E to be your wife?

Mr E: I do.

Will you stand by her no matter what happens, respecting her as a person, sharing her joys and easing her burdens? Will you be honest with her and faithful to her always, as long as you both live?

Mr E: Yes, I will.

Miss E, of your own free choice, do you take Mr E to be your husband?

Miss E: I do.

Will you stand by him no matter what happens, respecting him as a person, sharing his joys and easing his burdens? Will you be honest with him and faithful to him always, as long as you both live?

Miss E: Yes, I will.

A Midsummer Dream: We Declare (Ceremony Part I) : wedding new zealand pictures pro pics recap C654 c654

To Parents: As Miss E and Mr E enter a new life together, will you, their parents and family, seek to strengthen their marriage by giving them your care and concern together with the love you have always given them?

Family: Yes, we will.

A Midsummer Dream: We Declare (Ceremony Part I) : wedding new zealand pictures pro pics recap C648 c648

To congregation: You, as friends and family, have come to witness this exchange of vows. Will you do all in your power to support this marriage now and in the years ahead?

Congregation: Yes, we will.

We then moved on to the readings we had picked out. Mr E went first with Love Song by The Cure.

A Midsummer Dream: We Declare (Ceremony Part I) : wedding new zealand pictures pro pics recap C661 c661

Whenever I’m alone with you

You make me feel like I am home again

Whenever I’m alone with you

You make me feel like I am whole again

Whenever I’m alone with you

You make me feel like I am young again

Whenever I’m alone again

You make me feel like I am fun again

However far away, I will always love you

However long I stay, I will always love you

Whatever words I say, I will always love you

I will always love you.

Then it was my turn with ’i carry your heart’ by e e cummings:

A Midsummer Dream: We Declare (Ceremony Part I) : wedding new zealand pictures pro pics recap C655 c655

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in

my heart) i am never without it (anywhere

i go you go, my dear, and whatever is done

by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear

no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want

no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)

and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant

and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows

(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows

higher than the sun can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that’s keeping the star’s apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart).

Next up: We share our vows that we wrote for each other, and have our first kiss as husband and wife!
