Did you feel that, hive? Because I’m pretty sure a 150 pound weight was lifted off my shoulders. I’m feeling extra light this Monday because this weekend we finally picked a dress for my bridesmaids! Woohoo!

You might remember that I was having a pretty hard time choosing the perfect dress. The thing is, I sort of knew all along which one I wanted, I just couldn’t man up and make the final decision. I just felt like the dress I wanted was missing… something. I couldn’t put my finger on it until I saw this picture:

Is that the Arabelle dress with a halter strap???

It was perfect! Just the extra touch that I was looking for. But after reading through the Oprah article, I realized that Arabelle didn’t actually come with a detachable strap, it was something they added just for the show (oh, Oprah and your crazy ideas).

So my new plan of attack was to see if the sewing genius, Mom Sparkler, would mind making a few straps for me. I called up J.Crew to inquire about ordering some extra fabric, and what do you know? They happily told me that they could send me some for $25 a yard! Yeah, that’s a tad expensive for fabric but, since I’m only making a few straps, one yard should be plenty.

I was a little shocked when Mom Sparkler not only agreed to make the straps, but admitted the dress was “very pretty” with the extra detail (!). With Mom on board, I sent out an excited email to my girls. I even got to include a promo code for 20% off since J.Crew is having their big sale right now. You’re welcome ladies.

Now it’s on to the more exciting task of choosing shoes and accessories. I’m thinking possibly nude heels and simple jewelry… maybe a necklace for the girls who go strapless, and earrings for those with the halter:

What do you guys think? Do you like Arabelle with the halter strap? I’m pretty pumped that this decision has been made. Our wedding day look is slowly coming together!

I am a big, big fan of the halter strap. I have found with a lot of flowy, empire-waisted dresses, the end up making my proportions look odd… kind of a blend of huge decolletage + pregnant belly. Not a good look. I think the halter straps pull the eye up and keep everything balanced nicely!

Ahh sooo pretty, Sparks! I love that dress with or without the halter, but the halter definitely adds a little extra flair. I’m also really diggin’ the nude shoes.

My girls are also choosing between a halter and a strapless (from David’s Bridal). The girls who are wearing halters will be getting earrings and the girls who choose strapless will be getting a necklace.
