Mrs. Seal's Picture
Mrs. Seal, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 25, Personal Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Sales and Support Specialist Engagement Date: December 12, 2009 Wedding Date: November 2011 Venue: Sts Peter and Paul Church/The Bently Reserve About Me: I am a goofy, wannabe crafty, well-intentioned Renaissance Woman (OK, perhaps "aimless wanderer" is a more aptly suited term for me, but hopefully you get the point)—basically I dabble in just about everything and pride myself in such. Without warning, I occasionally breakout into soulful improvised songs and interpretive dances and there's just no stopping me! As so many others before me, planning our wedding has unearthed a deep, intense passion for all things bridal and I secretly fear the day it will come to an end. Mr. Seal and I are quite the pair and life with him by my side is extremely rewarding—I am so thankful to have found him. Together we are planning a black-tie San Francisco affair for 250—light on the stuffiness and with lots of extra Seal-y flair.
About Mrs. Seal

Before further developing the “Old San Francisco” motif, it was important to establish a color scheme. I mean, that’s like the second thing people ask when they find out you’re getting married—”What are your colors?!” This seemed like a pretty loaded question, and I had to be prepared!

Prior to coming up with the San Francisco theme, I was dead set on black and white with red accents, like a thiiiisss:

I still think it’s a beautiful color combination and complements our theme nicely, but I gradually became disenchanted with it. For me, I guess it felt a little too “winter-y”? I can’t put my finger on it. Anyway, my gears moved in a completely different direction, and I sought something that would complement our venue and theme even better—something a bit more vintage, almost Victorian.

Recall our venue:

I really wanted my bridesmaids in black—something about seeing those 10 pretty ladies in floor-length dark gowns felt very glamorous and classy to me, so I figured I’d stick with black as one of my colors. I decided to replace the white with champagne and get rid of the red entirely.

I am still 100% in love with the concept, but I felt too limited. Eventually I started to get frustrated and bored with the color scheme and decided I needed to pull in some other colors to properly execute the look I was going for in my head. Ultimately I decided to just refine this palette a bit and go with something a bit more monochromatic and developed.

Our color palette: Cream, feather, gold, and soft pink with black accents:

So that’s that. I’m not changing my mind again.

Probably.

Did your colors change? How did you know you had finally found THE palette?

I did not have a set pallate until I went to the florist. I knew I wanted yellow and found great yellow dresses for the girls. The rest worked itself out very nicely when I went to the florist to pick out our flowers. Now I have yellow, light purple, green, and black for accents. I love it!

I like the new colors! I’ve always known that my wedding colors would be black, white, and red. When I got engaged, I changed my mind. I’ve decided that blue, green, and white are more our style.

Love your palette! It’s very sophisticated and full of richness. Did Mr. Seal voice any concerns about pink when you initially brought it up?

SYdney Wedding Video

Bridal Website Blog (personal)

I love wedding Videos, I think they are underrated. My husband is a Sydney wedding videographer so I have seen many different weddings from many different nationalities and I enjoy watching them. Most people think that the photography is most important, now it is very important and it is a wonderful memory, but it isn’t alive like a video is. The photo’s don’t capture the words spoken on the day such as the wedding vows, the messages from guests as the tables are videoed and the beautiful speeches that bring so much laughter and tears to my eyes. When I see my husband edit footage and I watch the speeches they almost always make me cry. As a wife and a mum I know that the wedding is only one day in your life but I still remember it as one of the best days of my life, and when my daughter is older I can’t wait to show it to her. It was also important for us to have a video so that we could share it with our friends and family overseas that couldn’t be here to celebrate with us.
Take a moment to have a look at some of the wonderful wedding videos we have posted on our website http://www.dsmediavideo.com.au

DS Media Video production is committed to providing you with the best wedding videography available, and endeavour to be accommodating and helpful on the day, making sure all the bridal party are comfortable.
Wedding Photo’s are wonderful and are very important, but it isn’t alive like a video is. The photo’s don’t capture the words spoken on the day such as the wedding vows, the messages from guests as the tables are videoed and the beautiful speeches that can bring so much laughter and tears to your eyes. It can also be important to have a video so that you can share it with your friends and family overseas that cannot be there to celebrate with you. It is also invaluable as a keepsake to share with your children one day.
To make the most of your video here are some DS Media Video tips:
1) Time Management: We all know how crazy things can get on the wedding day and with so many people involved sometimes it is important to have a run sheet of the whole day not just the reception. Share this run sheet with all key players, not just your service providers, that way everyone knows where they are meant to be and what time to be there.
2) Allocate enough time: Wedding videos are really lovely when they include some footage of both the bride and the groom’s pre wedding preparation, making it more like a story. Make sure you tell your videographer what you want if you require something specific. Our videographers are accommodating and nothing is a problem, but it is all about communication.
3) Location footage: The location footage is beautiful, so make sure you leave enough time to get from Church to your location(s) and enough travel time to get to the reception on time. Think about this when booking your church time, and geography, as a 3pm wedding ceremony and then a 6pm reception time, isn’t going to leave you with many options.
4) Contingency Plans: There are some wonderful outdoor locations especially by the beaches and in the Rocks, Sydney, but sometimes the weather may not be cooperative to your plans. Make sure you have some other options in case the weather is wet, if unsure speak to our videographers, who after doing so many functions know lots of great spots for location shoots.
5) Don’t worry about the weather too much: I know we all like beautiful sunny weather on our weddings, but rest assured some of the most beautiful images and video I have seen are on overcast or stormy days. Firstly all flashes have to compete with sunlight glare, so not all photos are great, also a bit of wind is beautiful, picture a bride standing under overcast beautifully coloured skies, and her veil flowing behind her, as we say at DS Media, that is the money shot!!.
6) Enjoy! Both from professional experience and personal experience, as I have been a bride too, your wedding day will remain one of the most special days of your life, you are committing to a life together in front of all your friends and family, and so much planning (and expense) has gone into this one day!. Believe me if flies by like the speed of light, so as they say don’t sweat the small stuff, things will go wrong, or may not meet expectations, but forget it and move on as in the scheme of things it really isn’t that important . The day will still be fantastic and as some say it is about the marriage not the wedding!.
7) Communicate with your videographers: If there is a certain style you want, there is no point telling them after the event. Talk before, tell them what you envision and they can ensure that footage is caught on the day with that in mind. Also give them an idea of what you want the finished product to be like. Our videographers philosophy is that they are with you all day so they will pretty much shoot everything. But you may not want hours and hours of footage.
8) Come and see us! We are happy to communicate with our clients via phone and email, but we love it when we can meet face to face, we can show you what we have to offer and past work (which can sometimes give you inspiration for your day). We also feel that it opens the communication so that we get to know you and vice versa, so when we turn up to film your wedding we already know each other, which is often more comfortable for both the bride, the groom and us.
9) Ask lots of questions: When you are looking at different videographers, ask as many questions as possible, one big question to ask is how long it will take to have the final product. I have heard of some people waiting 6-12 months for their wedding video. This is unacceptable, our philosophy at DS Media is quality not quantity. If we have other commitments, we don’t take new bookings in that time period, as we promise all our clients a 2-6 week turnaround on the wedding video, providing they have given us all the text and music requirements. We think the most you should ever have to wait is 2-3 months maximum. Let’s be honest, we all lose interest after awhile, I know if I had to wait too long for my video, I probably wouldn’t have wanted it.
10) Relax…. Ok easy for us to say, but honestly a relaxed and happy bride and groom look beautiful, stress and nerves show on your face regardless of the smiles. Remember it is a day to treasure forever! Our philosophy at DS Media is that if you are happy then we are really happy and can feel we have done a great job for you.

These are my colors too! I am so excited about the way that you put them together into inspiration boards! It’s sometimes hard for me to help my friends/family to understand how black fits into the whole picture, but I think it’s going to be gorgeous at your wedding (and mine!) Hooray for color buddies!

Thaaaanks everyone!!! Happy you all like my choice! Also glad to hear I wasn’t the only indecisive one. I’ve been settled on this palette for quite some time now, so I’m fairly confident this is the one that’s gonna stick (PLUS I’ve already began buying things with the colors in mind so I don’t have much choice).

@Miss Pain au Chocolat: I was prepared for some resistance but Mr. S actually LIKED the idea (as long as I didn’t expect HIM to wear pink). He’s pretty awesome about letting me explore all of my wildest wedding dreams!

@cortneyc: Yaaay, color buddies!

Cant pick a date (message)  165 posts, Blushing bee

I am a black white and red bride and feel so limited! I want colored shoes, can I really wear black shoes to my wedding (yay for reuse though!)? Doesn’t exactly give the pop of color I was looking for and red just isn’t doing it for me.

I am a little for far in (meaning already invested to much…..) to change my colors. Glad you realized how limiting it is before it was too late!
