Rock Salt and Tin Foil

April 11th, 2011 @ 9:41 am by Mrs. Pain au Chocolat

Whenever Mr. Pain au Chocolat catches me admiring my engagement ring, he teases, “It’s only rock salt and tin foil.” The joke is on him because my lovely has a new sparkly friend…

…my custom cross-over wedding band!

If you remember, I couldn’t find any bands that paired well with my split-shank e-ring. And then I dreamed up a super ring that couldn’t be found, and our jeweler suggested going custom (for the same cost!).

Reunited and it feels so good! I’m pleased with how well it turned out. After reading about Mrs. Octo’s wedding band, going custom had me a little concerned.

But I’m not the only one with new jewelry. Mr. P’s 5mm “anything more is just too married” yellow gold band arrived, too.

He wanted a timeless and simple band that would still look good with the patina of a few years of marriage. I think he chose wisely. What do you think, hive? The domed shape is super comfortable and smooth; I may have slipped on his ring just to see.

What was your reaction when your wedding bands arrived? Did you and the object of your affection choose different styles?

He definitely went more elaborate than I thought, for a guy who told me early in the relationship “I don’t do man-jewelry.” Expensive taste! His decorative ring cost almost as mine (which has diamond accents similar to yours).

What a great idea for a split shank! I ended up using two curved bands that happened to work perfectly…I was a bit worried at first because it is a lot having all the rings on, but I have grown to get used to and love them!

Oh my goodness, looovely. Divinely lovely!

Yes… we chose very different bands. I have a very fine, modest engagement ring and I wanted a big glitzy solid wedding band, so I got something with 5 diamonds tcw .65 or so on white gold. FI just wanted simple white gold to match. He kind of wanted brushed gold, but he was more into the matching and wanted the same kind of gold and finish as my ring, so they look sort of matching.

Your bridal set is GORGEOUS together! I love the twisted band! I think his gold band was a good choice, too! :)

My fiance and I both got Tungsten bands, mine is plain and his has a celtic knot design on it. :)
